5. The 4.5 kilometre-long Silkyara tunnel project in Uttarakhand, which is part of the central government’s strategic 900-km ‘Char Dham Yatra All Weather Road’, will continue after the necessary safety audit and repair of the broken structure, a senior road ministry official said.

The 41 workers, who got trapped in the tunnel on November 12, were rescued from the collapsed tunnel in Uttarkashi after a gruelling 16-day operation that culminated on Tuesday evening.

6. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is working on multiple targets but Gaganyaan, Bharat’s first human space flight programme, is its immediate primary, the ISRO chairman S Somanath said.

*Under the Gaganyaan Mission, ISRO will be sending three humans to an orbit of 400 km for a 3-day mission and bring them back safely to Earth.

1. The Supreme Court said on Wednesday it was looking to put in place an administrative machinery to deal with hate speeches across the country while making it clear that it cannot handle each and every such matter as it will lead to a virtual flood of cases.

2. The National Investigation Agency has been tracking the activities of some residents of Punjab and Haryana for their alleged role in the attacks on the Consulate General of India in San Francisco, US.

3. The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday said it has seized cash and jewellery worth about Rs 5 crore after fresh searches against ABG Shipyard and others as part of a money laundering probe linked to an alleged bank loan fraud. The searches were undertaken on November 24 at seven locations in Mumbai, Pune and Delhi.

4. The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs) for a further three years. It has been extended till 31st March 2026 with financial implications of over 1952 crore rupees.

1. The US-based semiconductor company AMD on Tuesday inaugurated its largest global design centre in Bangalore, as part of the USD 400 million India investment announced by the company in July.

1. Ministry of Defence will take up deals to buy 97 TEJAS MK-1A aircraft and upgrade 84 Sukhoi 30 fighter jets at the Defence Acquisition Council meeting on November 30. The discussions on two ‘colossal’ fighter aircraft projects, collectively valued at Rs 1.3 lakh crore.

2. The US government has offered the Stryker armoured fighting vehicle’s air defence system version which can be deployed in high altitude areas to take out enemy aircraft to the Indian military.

3. The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), Haridwar, for procurement of 16 Upgraded Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM) along with associated equipment/accessories for the Indian Navy under Buy (Indian) category at a total cost of Rs 2,956.89 crore.

4. TATA Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) has built a facility in Bangalore to produce high-resolution imagery satellites for the armed force.

5. Induction of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Heron MK-II and planned induction of Hermes 900 Starliners will not only boost the reconnaissance and surveillance capability of the Indian Army but also their teaming with combat helicopters, which will prove to be a game changer in the third dimension: Army sources said.

6. Indian and Australian armed forces on Wednesday conducted tactical exercises in multi-domain operations in urban and semi-urban terrain during the Joint Military Exercise AustraHind 2023 in Australia.

The exercise is being conducted in Western Australia’s Perth from 22 Nov to 06 Dec.

7. The Indian Coast Guard Ship Sajag, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, arrived at Port Sultan Qaboos, Muscat, Oman, on November 29, 2023, for a three-day visit as part of the overseas deployment of ICG ships to West Asia.
