pslv c56 places seven singapore satellites into orbit

1. PSLV-C56 successfully places 7 Singaporean satellites into orbit. Indian Space Research Organisation on Sunday successfully launched its proven Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket carrying seven Singaporean satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and placed them into intended orbits.

2. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will soon reveal news of its testing facility for an air-breathing vehicle, Called the Hypersonic Air Breathing Vehicle with Air Integration System (HAVA) : ISRO chairman, S Somanath.

3. India’s tiger population is estimated to be 3,682 as the average with the upper estimate at 3,925, according to a detailed count four months after the central government announced the minimum estimate to be at least 3,167.

4. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an increase in rainfall activity over East India including Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha for next 3 days.

8. In Telangana, rescue and relief activities gained pace following respite from heavy rains across the state. However, flood situation is still grim in several districts as River Godavari is flowing above the third danger mark 53 feet at Bhadrachalam.

13. The Government has decided to extend the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana for an additional two years, continuing until June 30, 2024.

(This scheme serves as a welfare initiative for employees falling under Section 2(9) of the ESI Act, 1948, offering them relief payments for a period of up to 90 days in the event of unemployment, but limited to a one-time benefit.)

14. Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur appointed as new Chief Justices of Bombay and Andhra Pradesh High Courts respectively.

15. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, BJP MP from Karimnagar and former Telangana BJP state president, was appointed as one of the party’s national general secretaries on Saturday. The party also announced that senior leader D.K. Aruna will continue as its national vice-president.

1. MANIPUR VIOLENCE UPDATES:

(a) Manipur Police conducts search operations in vulnerable & fringe areas of State & recovers 7 arms, 45 ammunition & 3 bombs.

(b) Peace public rally held at Imphal yesterday; Shops & other establishments closed in valley districts.

(c) The Manipur government restarted its campaign to capture biometric details of illegal Myanmar immigrants on Saturday.

(d) The CBI on Saturday formally took over the investigation into the alleged sexual assault on two women by a mob in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on May 4, a video clip of which went viral on social media platforms earlier this month triggering a nationwide outrage.

2. Five Khalistan Liberation Force operatives arrested in Punjab: Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said.

3. Violence breaks out during Muharram procession in Delhi’s Nangloi area on Saturday, 10 policemen injured.

4. Mumbai Police has strengthened security outside Nariman House in Mumbai after a Google image of the property was seized from two suspected terrorists arrested for planning an attack in Rajasthan. The property, also known as Chabad House, was one of the targets of the 26/11 terror attack in 2008. The duo was recently arrested by Maharashtra ATS.

1. At least eight people, including three women, were killed in an explosion at a firecracker unit which led to the collapse of a nearby hotel in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district on Saturday.

2. In Maharashtra at least 6, people were killed and 19 others were injured in a head-on collision between two private vehicles on National Highway No. 6 in Malkapur town of Buldhana district. The accident took place around 3 am.

3. 70-year-old woman and her three daughters were killed after the ambulance, in which they were bringing home the dead body of her husband, was hit by a vehicle in Uttar Pradesh.

4. A landmine exploded near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district in the early hours of Saturday but there was no report of any damage, officials said.

The landmine exploded around 4 am amid incessant rains near the Khokhri post in Terwan village of the Degwar area.

1. In a significant development, the central government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently signed a loan agreement amounting to USD 200 million as additional financing for the ongoing Rajasthan Secondary Towns Development Sector Project.

3. Azerbaijan Protests as Indian Pinaka Multi-Rocket Launchers Reportedly Reach Rival Armenia Via Iran: A cargo, reportedly containing India’s indigenous Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, has reached Armenia via Iran, irking its arch-rival, Azerbaijan.

India was the first country to recognize the independence of Armenia following the collapse of the Soviet Union. But the main reason for such friendship is Azerbaijan’s fraternal relations with Pakistan.

4. Indian Navy May get first of its three additional Scorpene Submarines by 2031; Contract Likely to be signed by End-2024.

The Defence Acquisition Council had granted the ‘acceptance of necessity’ for the procurement of three additional Scorpene-class diesel-electric submarines, on 13 July.

5. INDIAN NAVY ENDS ‘COLONIAL PRACTICE’ OF CARRYING BATONS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT: Indian Defence forces have taken multiple steps to shed British-era practices. The Navy has now instructed that a ceremonial baton be placed appropriately in the office of the head of the organisation of every unit.The Indian Navy announced on Saturday that it would end the colonial legacy of carrying batons with ‘immediate effect’.

6. India Set to develop S-400 like Made-In-India Air Defence System, Capable of destroying Enemy targets 400 Kilometre away. India is currently undertaking the development of a three-layered long-range surface-to-air missile (LRSAM) defence system.

9. Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), a Kolkata-based PSU of the Ministry of Defence, has launched an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) named Neerakshi. The 2.15-metre-long vessel is capable of operating up to a depth of 300 metres.

10. Former Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane said that involvement of foreign agencies in violence-hit Manipur “cannot be ruled out,” as he highlighted the role of “Chinese aid to various insurgent groups” in the north-eastern state.
