1. PM Modi will inaugurate Phase-1 of Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh today.
2. Vice President Shri C P Radhakrishnan will visit Jharkhand today. During the visit, Shri Radhakrishnan will offer tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda at his birthplace in Ulihatu village of Khunti district. 3. The Election Commission said that one thousand 955 candidates are in the fray for elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry and bye-elections of four states, which will go to polls on the 9th of April. 722 candidates from Assam, 890 candidates from Keralam and 294 from Puducherry will contest the elections.

6. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Thunderstorms accompanied with hailstorms over Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim for today. Similar conditions will prevail over Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha till Tuesday.

1. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted searches at six locations and arrested two accused persons in connection with a SIM Box-based cyber-enabled fraud operation.
2. West Bengal, clashes broke out between two communities at three locations in the Murshidabad district yesterday during Ram Navami processions, leaving several people injured and prompting authorities to impose emergency restrictions. Incidents of vandalism, looting, and arson were reported throughout the day.
3. A Supreme Court-appointed panel has urged the Centre to withdraw the Transgender Persons Amendment Bill 2026, citing concerns over self-identification rights, medical certification and exclusion of identities, triggering protests and debate across India.
4. The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday dismissed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s plea seeking temporary release to attend the ongoing Budget session of Parliament. Among other things, a Division Bench of the high court held that a sitting MP under preventive detention enjoyed no higher constitutional privilege than an ordinary citizen and that individual liberty must yield to concerns of public order and state security.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has brought top-tier VVIPs — from the Lok Sabha Speaker and Chief Justice of India to Chief Ministers and SPG protectees — under a stricter aviation safety framework, issuing fresh guidelines for non-scheduled flights in the wake of the Baramati crash on January 28 which claimed the life of then Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

1. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh cleared proposals worth two lakh 38 thousand crore rupees to augment defence capabilities.
2. The Indian Army is set to place a massive order for the 800 km extended-range BrahMos cruise missile, expected to be cleared in an upcoming high-level MoD meeting. Deployed in the north/west, it will bring all major Pakistani bases into strike range. Deployed from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, it will enable the targeting of Chinese warships deep in the Indian Ocean.
3. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is set to approve multiple major procurement proposals. These include 60 Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA), 5 additional S-400 air defense systems, 4 squadrons of Remotely Piloted Strike Aircraft for the IAF, 800 km range BrahMos cruise missiles, and 300 additional Dhanush howitzers.
4. Ashok Leyland has developed a new 4×4 Mine Protected Vehicle specifically designed for counter-insurgency roles.
It is a specialized, highly maneuverable vehicle designed for counter-insurgency and quick response in extreme terrains. Under a Transfer of Technology (ToT) from Lockheed Martin, this indigenous vehicle provides top-tier protection (8 kg TNT, NATO STANAG) for a 2+8 crew.
5. The Ministry of Defence signed a ₹445 crore deal with Russia’s Rosoboronexport for Tunguska air defense systems to enhance protection against drones and cruise missiles.

1. The first edition of the Shillong International Film Festival concluded yesterday at the State Convention Centre in Shillong, marking a significant step towards promoting cinema in the Northeast. The three-day festival was held from March 25th to 27th. The event opened with the screening of the acclaimed Khasi film “Ha Lyngkha Bneng”, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Pradip Kurbah.
2. The first edition of the International Film Festival Delhi which is being held at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, was launched on Wednesday by Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi minister for art, culture, and languages, Kapil Mishra.
The event honored several actors and public figures associated with the cinema, including Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, and Nandamuri Balakrishna, and managing director of PVR cinemas, Ajay Bijli.
