National Science Day

National Science Day 2023 today- On this day, in 1928, Indian physicist Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, popularly known as CV Raman, made an important discovery in the field of spectroscopy, which was later named after him, the Raman Effect.

1. Germany is offering next-generation submarines to India, worth a $5.2 billion deal to jointly build six conventional submarines. While there is no official confirmation, the talks over the submarine took place during Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit.

2. An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 145 Air Warriors has departed from Air Force Station Jamnagar to participate in Exercise Cobra Warrior at the Waddington Air Force Base of the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom.

3. GE Aviation plans to manufacture Tejas MK2 engine in India, says Youngje Kim, Vice President.

4. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) for 48 Jet Pack suits. The RFP is being made as an emergency procurement through the Fast Track Procedure (FTP) under the Buy Indian Category. The indigenous content requirement is greater or equal to 60% if it has at least 50% indigenous design. The RFP highlights that the Jet Packs will be delivered at COD Agra.

5. What is Project-75I of Indian Navy?

The Indian Navy is ready to acquire six Diesel-Electric submarines under Project-75I at a cost of $5.6 billion. These submarines will be made in India under the Strategic Partnership (SP) route with significant Transfer of Technology (ToT).
