1. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said that over the past 12 years, the gap between cities and villages in India has narrowed significantly. He highlighted the considerable improvement in rural infrastructure and noted that women across the country have also become increasingly self-reliant and economically empowered. PM Modi made these remarks during a virtual interaction yesterday with Seva Yatris travelling on the Yatra from Varanasi to Vadnagar under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
2. India marked 12 years of the Make in India initiative on 25 September 2026. The initiative was launched on 25 September 2014 to promote domestic manufacturing, investment, exports, and industrial competitiveness across sectors.
3. The government has said that 70 thousand rural youth across States and Union Territories will be provided skill training from next month under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0. The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme providing placement linked skill training to poor rural youth.
4. Indian Railways has approved the introduction of the Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express, a tri-weekly long-distance train service numbered 19427/19428. The train will connect Bhuj in Gujarat with Barauni in Bihar over a route of 2,532 km and will pass through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
5. Uttar Pradesh government has released 403 crore rupees for development of 4,030 Ambedkar Statue Sites in the state. In the first phase of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue Site Development scheme, 10 statue sites in each of the 403 Assembly Constituencies, a total of 4,030 sites, will be developed.
6. Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh announces Financial Assistance Scheme for Women Street Vendors. Scheme will be introduced before Ningol Chakouba, 2026 to help meet their families’ daily needs.
7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that despite global uncertainties, India has achieved a 7.8 percent growth rate and maintains its position as the fastest-growing major economy. Inaugurating Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show UPITS at Greater Noida.
8. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu officially flagged off the Somnath Yatra-2026 from the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat. Organised under the aegis of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the ceremony marked the commencement of the journey to Gujarat.

1. Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take strict action against hospitals that fail to comply with the Ayushman scheme’s rules and prescribed standards. For this purpose, the State Health Agency has constituted a four-member team. The team has also started conducting surprise inspections of hospitals empaneled under the scheme, State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS).
2. Bank unions under UFBU (United Forum of Bank Unions), have called a three-day strike from September 28 to 30, 2026. Know the five-day banking demand, PLI dispute, strike dates and impact on services.
3. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed the prohibitions on the manufacturing and selling of the non-milk products as “paneer”. This suggestion is made in the draft of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Amendment Regulations, 2026, which was published on 24th of September 2026. FSSAI has issued an invitation to objections and suggestions from all concerned stakeholders for 60 days.

1. The Centre has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, in ‘disturbed areas’ of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for a period of six months with effect from 1st of October.
2. Surgeons of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) carried out 220 sight-restoring surgeries during the 10th edition of first-of-its-kind Mega Eye Surgical Camp, held under Operation Drishti in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was held on the 24th and 25th of this month. Defence Ministry said that most interventions were cataract surgeries, along with selective retinal procedures and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited the camp and interacted with patients.
3. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh flagged-in the First Ascent Mountaineering Expedition in New Delhi on 25 September 2026. The expedition recorded the first-ever summits of 20 unclimbed peaks above 6,000 metres in Ladakh in 23 days.

1. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has inked the title sponsorship deal with Muthoot FinCorp, a non-banking financial corporation, for international cricket games to be played under the aegis of the board till March 2028. The deal carries a value of up to Rs 150 crore, where the reported per game payout is Rs 4.3 crore per match. This comes after the ending of the previous title sponsorship deal of IDFC First Bank in August 2026.
2. A merchant discount rate (MDR) set to be levied from October 15, 2026, on particular UPI transactions made to the merchants who belong to the P2M category. The MDR will be charged only when transactions exceed ₹2,000. However, customers will not have to pay any extra charges. Small vendors receiving transactions of ₹1 lakh or less per month via UPI will continue to remain exempted. The MDR of 0.4% will be charged in applicable P2M transactions, with a cap of ₹300 on transactions of ₹75,000 or above.
