1. The Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill, 2026, was introduced in the Rajya Sabha.

Why was this Bill introduced?
This Bill is controversial and important because of a recent Supreme Court ruling (2025):
The Court said CAPF officers should get equal status (Organised Group A Services)
It also directed the government to reduce IPS deputation gradually.

The Bill legalizes (codifies) the system of sending Indian Police Service officers to CAPFs on deputation
Particularly at senior ranks like:
DIG (Deputy Inspector General)
IG (Inspector General)

👉 But this Bill:
Goes in the opposite direction. Tries to retain or formalize IPS control in senior posts.
