1. The Union Cooperation Minister directed the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF) to procure pulses and oilseeds directly from farmers. The directive covers direct payment into farmers’ bank accounts and a two-year implementation target up to June 2028.

2. PM Modi interacted with 183 Indian Administrative Service officer trainees from the 2024 batch in New Delhi on 23 June 2026. The trainees were serving as Assistant Secretaries in various ministries and departments at the time of the interaction.

3. Vice President Shri C P Radhakrishnan yesterday released a book in New Delhi, titled V.I.P. Culture in India: Power, Privilege and Distance from Democracy. Addressing the gathering, Shri Radhakrishnan said the book reflects on the distance that often exists between institutions of power and ordinary citizens and underscores the need to bridge this gap through people-centric governance.

7. A two-day Textiles Summit 2026 organised by the Ministry of Textiles, concluded in New Delhi yesterday. The summit brought together representatives from State Governments, industry, and academia, fostering collaborative dialogue on the sector’s growth and future roadmap.

8. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India reaffirmed on 23 and 24 June 2026 that the ethanol-blending-programme/”>Ethanol Blending Programme is scientifically validated and continuously monitored. The programme introduced 20% ethanol-blended petrol, known as E20, from 2023 onwards.

9. National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), in collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), has expanded Urban River Management Plans (URMP) across the Ganga Basin. The Jal Shakti Ministry said that the Management Plans are supported as part of the Namami Gange Programme.

The Secretary of the Department of Rural Development Rohit Kansal yesterday chaired a high-level inter-ministerial consultation meeting on the Draft Convergence Framework under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 in New Delhi. The Ministry of Rural Development said that the consultation forms part of the preparatory activities being undertaken ahead of the commencement of the VB-G RAM G Act on 1st July.

11. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is preparing to launch Index of Services Production (ISP) next month to provide a monthly measure of short-term changes in the growth of formal services sector.

12. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will embark on a three-day official visit to London, United Kingdom from 25–27 June. The Commerce and Industry Ministry said that the visit comes ahead of the entry into force of the landmark India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the companion Double Contribution Convention (DCC) on 15th July.

13. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on Friday. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the meeting being organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will bring together representatives of Central Ministries, State Governments and drug law enforcement agencies to review and strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking and drug abuse across the country.

14. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday attended the Tryodashi Sanskar of late International Shooter and Coach Jaspal Rana in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

15. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over parts of the North-Eastern region, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa today.

1. The government has refuted a video circulating on social media claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will provide free air conditioners to people through their Aadhaar cards. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified that the video is fake and AI-generated. The Unit said that no such announcement has been made by the Prime Minister.

2. Union Minister of State for Communications, Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, today reviewed anti-fraud measures against the misuse of SIM cards by unsuspecting subscribers.

3. The government has banned the manufacture, sale and distribution of 16 fixed-dose combination (FDC) drugs for human use with immediate effect.

The move follows a Supreme Court-directed review by an expert committee set up by the Drugs Technical Advisory Board, which found the drug combinations lacked therapeutic justification and could pose health risks.

In West Bengal, rescue operations are in full swing after an under-construction godown collapsed, trapping workers beneath heavy iron debris near Taratala in Kolkata yesterday. Five people were declared dead at the SSKM Hospital, and the injured are being treated there.

2. In Arunachal Pradesh, heavy rainfall and flash floods have caused widespread damages at NEEPCO Colony in Yazali circle under Keyi Panyor district yesterday. As per the latest reports, four people are missing.

3. In Manipur, vehicular movement along National Highway 37 (Imphal- Jiribam Road) has been completely cut off due to landslides in three different locations in Tamenglong district. Manipur has been witnessing torrential rainfall over the last few days especially in hill districts.

1. India and UAE yesterday held a meeting to advance the progress of defence cooperation under the Strategic Defence Partnership Framework in New Delhi.

2. Indian Naval Ships Udaygiri and Kavaratti have departed Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam after completing a port call as part of their operational deployment in the South East Asia region. The Defence Ministry said that during the visit, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, held discussions with senior officials of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the Vietnam People’s Navy on maritime cooperation, professional collaboration and regional maritime security.

1. The Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra said that discussion on interest rate hikes was premature. The statement came after the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% on 5 June 2026.

The repo rate is the rate at which the Reserve Bank of India lends short-term funds to commercial banks against government securities.

2. The ePlane Company, incubated at IIT Madras, has completed assembly of its full-scale electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, the e200X prototype (PT-01), in Chennai. The prototype has entered the ground testing phase, and the company has set commercial production for 2028 with an initial output of 80 aircraft a year.
