1. Uttar Pradesh has received India’s first integrated recycling facility for lithium-ion batteries and rare earth magnets at the UPSIDC Industrial Area in Sikandrabad. Developed by Rocklink India, the plant is a major step toward strengthening domestic recovery of critical minerals and supporting India’s clean energy transition.

2. A total of 142 assembly constituencies will go to the polls on 29th April under the second phase of Assembly election in West Bengal.

3. The Haryana government will establish 23 new Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations to accurately monitor air quality within the National Capital Region.

4. The Maharashtra has approved the State Compressed Biogas (CBG) Policy 2026 to strengthen clean energy production and scientific waste management. The decision was taken by the State Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

5. In Uttar Pradesh, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has introduced two types of passes, Sugam Darshan and General Darshan, to facilitate devotees visiting the Shri Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya. Under the Sugam Darshan pass, devotees can visit Ram Lalla, the Ram Parivar, and six temples located within the Parkota.

6. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has partially opened the Khammam-Devarapalle stretch of NH-365BG-Telangana’s first access-controlled greenfield highway. Traffic is permitted from Wyra in Telangana to Ponguturu in Andhra Pradesh, covering around 116 km.

10. A special milk freight train carrying Amul products has reached Jammu and Kashmir from Gujarat, marking a historic first in ensuring bulk dairy transportation to the Union Territory via rail. 13. Noida International Airport has appointed Nitu Sarma as its interim Chief Executive Officer following directions from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). Noida International Airport is located at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi inaugurated the airport in March 2026.

14. Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan will visit Jaipur today. During the visit, the Vice-President will attend the 35th Convocation of the University of Rajasthan. He will also attend the 23rd Cancer Survivors’ Day, organised by Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Jaipur.

15. Odisha is reeling under a severe heatwave, with temperatures crossing 40°C in several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warnings in many districts. IMD also issues heatwave alert in Keralam amid rising heat and humidity.

1. The Supreme Court on Friday (April 24) has observed that lands attached to Mosques known as ‘service imams’ form part of the Wakf Property, and therefore cannot be alienated.

2. The AAP has been split in Rajya Sabha. Seven out of its 10 members have exited the party to merge with the BJP, party MP Raghav Chadha announced.

AAP MP Swati Maliwal on Friday confirmed that she was indeed quitting the party, attributing her decision to “corruption, harassment, assault on women and promotion of goons”.

3. Just 22 days after being appointed as the Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha deputy leader in place of Raghav Chadha, MP Ashok Kumar Mittal has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, marking a fresh twist in the widening crisis within the Aam Aadmi Party.

4. The Supreme Court on Thursday (April 23) flagged a serious procedural irregularity in Bihar and Jharkhand, noting the practice of litigants approaching the Sessions Court / High Court for anticipatory bail in complaint cases on the apprehension that the mere issuance of process would lead to their arrest.

The Court clarified that once a process is issued, the litigant needs to only comply with the process, as no arrest can take place in a complaint case unless a non-bailable warrant is issued to effect process.

5. Supreme Court rules, no court can compel a woman, especially a minor, to carry a pregnancy against her will.

6. The Telangana RTC strike (22 April 2026) is a major ongoing statewide protest by employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC).

The unions have raised 32 demands, including:

Merger of RTC with the state government.

Better salaries and pay revision (fitment issues)
Job security and regularization of contract workers.

7. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting a search operation in the Andhra Pradesh Liquor Scam case. In a statement, the ED said that searches were carried out at 12 premises, including 11 at Hyderabad and 1 at Tirupati.

8. The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh, over the reported death of 13 workers and injuries to 20 others due to a boiler tube explosion at a thermal power plant in the Sakti district of Chhattisgarh.

1. Air Marshal S Shrinivas, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command, visited the Air Force Academy Dundigal, Hyderabad, accompanied by Mrs Sunita Shrinivas, President of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional).

2. The Indian Navy’s Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini arrived at Las Palmas on 23 Apr 2026, as part of her ongoing transoceanic deployment under Lokayan 26. The port call to the Canary Islands archipelago is significant as it marks the maiden visit of an Indian naval ship to the archipelago.

3. The Indian Air Force has launched the third edition of the Mehar Baba Competition-3 (https://indianairforce.nic.in/mehar_baba). The theme of MBC-3 is “Collaborative Drone-Based Surveillance Radars.” The competition aims to encourage innovation in advanced drone and radar technologies. Meritorious participants will receive development funding from the Indian Air Force, and the top three winners will be honored with awards. The registration for MBC-3 is commencing on 27 Apr 26.

4. Vice Admiral C R Praveen Nair, Controller of Personnel Services and President of the Indian Navy Sports Control Board, visited the Indian Navy Sports Control Cell in Kochi. During the visit, Vice Admiral Nair interacted with naval athletes and sports staff.

5. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has been inducted into the International Hall of Fame of the US Army War College yesterday. He became the third person to receive this honour after General V K Singh and General Bikram Singh.

6. The 7th edition of the India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise Dustlik culminated yesterday at Namangan in Uzbekistan. The Indian Armed Forces contingent, comprising 60 personnel, was represented by 45 personnel from the Indian Army and 15 from the Indian Air Force. The Uzbekistan contingent also had 60 personnel from the Uzbekistan Army and Air Force.

7. The Indian Army has formally initiated termination proceedings against Major Sharyf Bhonsle, a commissioned officer of the elite 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), who has remained absent without leave since August 2014.

At the time of his unauthorised absence, he was serving in a sensitive and prestigious appointment as Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a high-level meeting with heads of banks on Thursday to discuss the potential risks with Anthropic’s Claude Mythos, an AI so powerful that it can potentially hack any system. Sitharaman has advised for the creation of mechanisms that can identify and act on any cyberattacks on the financial sector.

2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the banking licence of the Paytm Payments Bank Limited and effectively ended the its ability to operate as a bank. This decision is comes after the years of regulatory concerns and the repeated non-compliance. The central bank has also announced that it will approach the High Court to wind-up the proceedings.

3. Dabur appoints Herjit S. Bhalla as CEO of its India Business, effective April 23, 2026. He will report to Global CEO Mohit Malhotra, strengthening leadership for domestic operations, as announced in a regulatory filing.

1. Drishyam 3 is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, it is the third installment in the Drishyam franchise and the sequel to the Drishyam 2 (2021). The film stars Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil, all four of them reprising their roles from the first two films of the trilogy.

Drishyam 3 is scheduled for a theatrical release on 21 May 2026.

2. Kannada actress Harshavardhini Ranya Rao was released from Central Prison, Mysuru on Wednesday (April 22) after completing her 1-year detention under the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (COFEPOSA) Act in a case pertaining to alleged gold smuggling.
