In an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court, the food regulator proposed a red hexagon warning label on the front of such products, specifying the nutrient exceeding the prescribed limit.

2. The Supreme Court on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) stopped short of requiring Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to give a specific time line for completing the disqualification proceedings pending against 20 rebel Trinamool Congress party MPs who have aligned themselves with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI).

1. Materials scientist and defence researcher Dr Gopinath K. took charge as Director of the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL) Hyderabad. He succeeded to the post on September 21, after more than three decades with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
2. Defence procurement — The Defence Ministry signed an ₹810-crore contract with Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) for 160 SAT-SAAW systems and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force.
3. For the first time in history, the Indian Air Force will be exercising alongside the American F-35A stealth fighter jet. The fifth-generation platform is scheduled to join French Rafales, United Arab Emirates F-16s, and a diverse range of Indian aircraft at Tarang Shakti 2026.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) have successfully concluded the bilateral air exercise Veer Guardian 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur, marking another significant milestone in the steadily expanding strategic and military partnership between India and Japan.The exercise concluded on September 22 after 14 days of intensive joint training.
