1. EnKash, an Indian business payments and spend management platform, launched India’s first meal card with Unified Payments Interface-based payments on 22 July 2026. The card allows employees to pay from their meal card balance by scanning eligible UPI QR codes at food and grocery merchants across India.
2. Telangana has announced the launch of India’s first Green Skills and Applied AI Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad, dedicated to Green Pharma, in partnership with Microsoft, MeitY Start-Up Hub, and the 1M1B Foundation.The facility will be operational by August 2026 and is designed to train youth in artificial intelligence and sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing.
3. India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has moved its indigenous AI inference chip into trial production, partnering with HCL Infosystems to validate its design and performance.This marks a crucial step in India’s semiconductor journey under the ₹1.27 trillion SEMICON 2.0 mission, with commercial deployment targeted by 2029–2030.
4. The IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kanpur has planned to build a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Green Hydrogen, which is an important step forward in strengthened the India’s clean energy research space.
5. Bharath launched a nationwide Campus Biodiversity Register initiative for higher educational institutions on 21-22 July 2026. The exercise is being implemented by the Nature Conservation Foundation, a Mysuru-based wildlife research and conservation organisation, and the National Biodiversity Authority under India’s biodiversity documentation framework.
6. Kerala has set a target of 150 Global Capability Centres by 2031 under the strategic roadmap titled Kerala GCC Outlook 2026. The plan also projects the creation of about 2 lakh jobs in the state by 2031.

A meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was held in Ayodhya yesterday, during which several key decisions were taken on temple management, the donation system, appointments, and administrative reforms. The Trust discussed the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer, filling vacant posts, and the reconstitution of its religious committee.
8. The West Bengal government constituted the Seventh Pay Commission. The Commission will recommend revisions relating to the salaries, allowances, promotions and pensions of employees and pensioners of the State Government and government-aided organisations. The panel will submit its report to the State Government within the next six months.
9. Maharashtra is going to open the first AI-powered bird sanctuary of India at Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary (TCFS). This will be a remarkable step towards merging artificial intelligence with wildlife conservation. The Maharashtra Government has provided an approval for Eco-Nature Park to cost ₹45 crores, where the first bird detection and monitoring centre based on AI would be established.
10. Gujarat has approved Rs 14.90 crore for setting up de-addiction centres in all 34 district hospitals in the state for the 2026-27 financial year. The project is part of the state’s Drug-Free Gujarat campaign and covers inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment services.
11. The Government has informed that 162 Vande Bharat train services are currently operating across the country. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Railways has introduced indigenously designed and manufactured Vande Bharat trains to enhance the travel experience of passengers.
12. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat and Central Maharashtra today. Heavy rainfall is also expected over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jammu-Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha and Rajasthan.

1. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) said his party remains firm in its uncompromising stand that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) should be abolished.
2. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) condemned the violence that broke out during a protest at Jantar Mantar over NEET-UG and other education-related issues, alleging that “anti-social elements” and political interests had hijacked students’ legitimate agitation. The Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee for the rest of the Monsoon Session for allegedly using inappropriate language against women members of the Nationalist Citizen Party of India (NCPI), into which 20 rebel Trinamool MPs had merged their faction.
4. The Biju Janata Dal president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amidst mounting pressure on the Narendra Modi Government from opposition parties over NEET paper leak and examination reforms.
5. The Government reiterated its readiness for meaningful discussion on NEET paper leak issue in the Parliament. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, the government was prepared for a meaningful debate on the issue involving all sides under established parliamentary rules, keeping in mind the future of the country’s youth.
6. Senior BJP leader and Union Minister JP Nadda said that the NEET paper leak issue raised by the students should not be politicised.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk has said that he would end his hunger strike if the government provides assurance that no legal action would be taken against the young protesters demanding accountability over the NEET paper leak. In a letter to Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, Mr Wangchuk thanked both the Ministers for visiting him at the hospital last night.

1. In Jammu and Kashmir, a policeman was killed yesterday in a terrorist attack at the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag district. A search operation is underway to apprehend the terrorists. 2. In Sikkim, rescue teams have traced eight more bodies inside the under-construction tunnel at Samardung in Namchi district.
3. In Assam, the flood situation remains critical with 16 districts affected by the deluge. 21 more people have been reported to have lost their lives in the flood across the state taking the toll to 31 till now.

4. Merlinhawk Aerospace has announced a significant agreement with Boeing India Defence Private Limited to provide in-country support for advanced Electro-Optical/Infrared systems deployed on Indian military platforms.The collaboration was formalised in Bengaluru on 21 July and is expected to enhance readiness and self-reliance across India’s defence ecosystem.
6. China’s newly appointed Defence Attaché to India, Rear Admiral You Jian, has expressed deep gratitude to the Indian military for rescuing 12 Chinese crew members from a cargo ship that caught fire and exploded off the coast of Kerala last June.

DRDO has signed a contract with AI Engineering Services Limited (AIESL), New Delhi for the conversion of six A321 Aircraft from commercial to green configuration, further leading to the development and production of Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) MKII Programme. A separate contract was inked with Adani Defence Systems and Technologies (ADSTL), Ahmedabad to engage with the company as Development Cum Production Partner (DcPP) for Mission Systems designed for the AEW&C MKII Programme.
