1. Campaigning for assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and for first phase in West Bengal ends; Voting on Thursday. The second phase of polling in West Bengal will be conducted on the 29th of April. Counting of votes for all polling States and Union Territories will take place on the 4th of May.
2. Ahmedabad based Kankaria Railway Coaching Depot has emerged as the ‘water neutral’ railway depot which has redefining how the traditional railway operations can align with environmental goals. As this depot have saving nearly 1.60 lakh litres of water daily.
3. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship convened a Capacity Building and Review Workshop under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) on the theme of Viksit Gaon for Viksit Bharat in New Delhi on Tuesday.
4. The Central Government has announced eight new weekly train services from various stations in Hyderabad. This development comes following the proactive efforts of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, who discussed the long-standing demands for regular services with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The new trains will operate from Kacheguda, Cherlapally, and Nampally stations, connecting the city to key destinations in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Odisha.

6. IMD Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across most Telangana districts for the next 48 hours. The weather pattern of hot days followed by evening storms is expected to continue until April 27.

1. Union Minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal demanded an apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and DMK Chief M.K Stalin, over Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
2. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar has criticised Opposition parties for not supporting the Constitution Amendment Bill related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, stating that all political parties should have backed the legislation in the national interest.
3. Telangana State Road Transportation TGSRTC will go off the roads across the state from Wednesday, with employees and workers’ unions under a joint action committee (JAC) beginning their statewide indefinite strike beginning midnight Tuesday. The decision was taken after four hours of talks between the state government and JAC leaders on Tuesday failed to yield any breakthrough on the long-pending 32 demands raised by the unions.
4. The Bihar State Women Commission on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) took suo motu cognisance of “uncharitable” comments on women in politics made by Independent MP from Purnea Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and issued him a notice.

1. India has strengthened its internal security and naval logistics with two major indigenous defence developments led by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The Ministry of Home Affairs has received the AI-enabled satellite imaging system Prajna, while the Indian Navy has successfully completed trials of the Air Droppable Container ADC-150.
2. To strengthen the internal security of the India the induction of the advanced satellite imaging system called Prajna’ was developed. It is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and this system has been handed over to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
3. Japan has approved a major shift in its postwar security policy by removing restrictions on the export of lethal weapons. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s Cabinet cleared the final hurdles for arms sales involving fighter jets, missiles and warships, marking a significant departure from Japan’s long-standing pacifist approach after World War II.
4. The Ministry of Defence signed contracts for the procurement of TRAWL Assembly for T-72 and T-90 Tanks at a cost of around 975 crore rupees. The contracts were signed with Bharat Earth Movers Limited and Electro Pneumatics and Hydraulics (India) Pvt Limited in presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.
5. Indian Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel INS Sunayna arrived at Jakarta in Indonesia on Tuesday, marking the third port call of its deployment under the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR initiative in the Indian Ocean Region.
6. Indian Navy will host the Naval Civilian Function on Thursday in New Delhi. The Ministry of Defence said that Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will attend the event.
The event will also witness the formal inauguration of NCMIS Version 2.0 (SAKSHAM), specialised training modules (NavKalp) on the iGOT platform, and biannual magazine Udantika by the Minister.
7. The Indian Army yesterday asserted its resolve to fight against terrorism on the eve of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack. On 22nd of April last year, terrorists killed 26 innocent people, mostly tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
The dastardly act shook the nation and drew condemnation from governments and leaders across the world. In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian Armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of 6th and 7th of May last year.
8. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has been accorded a Guard of Honour at Fort Shafter in Hawaii, during his ongoing visit to the United States Army Pacific. General Dwivedi also held discussions with Commanding General of US Army Pacific, Ronald P. Clark and other senior leaders, focusing on strengthening India-US Defence Cooperation and advancing a shared vision for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
