Tripura Elections 2023 : Polling Underway For 60-Member Assembly. The counting votes will take place on 2 March. A triangular contest is on the cards as Congress and CPIM, stitched a pre-poll alliance to defeat the ruling BJP while the BJP which is looking to retain its power is contesting in alliance with Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Tipra Motha

1. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar interacted with a group of Indian Information Service (IIS) probationers at Up-Rashtrapati Nivas in New Delhi.

2. PM Modi will inaugurate the mega National Tribal Festival – Aadi Mahotsav tomorrow at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. One thousand tribal artists from 28 States and Union Territories will take part in the festival. The festival is scheduled between the 16th and the 27th of this month and it will celebrate the tribal spirit including its culture, crafts, cuisine, commerce and traditional art.

8. Tripura is all set to go to the polls on February 16 to elect all 60 members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. Votes to be counted on March 3.

10. BJP National President J P Nadda released the party’s manifesto for Meghalaya Assembly elections in Shillong, The state will go to polls on 27th of this month.

11. The Telangana State Government is planning to enact the Clinical Establishment Act for regulating private hospitals in the state. State Finance Minister Harish Rao made the announcement. The members raised concerns relating to private hospitals over irregularities and imposing hefty charges for treatment.

12. Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department of Odisha Government in association with Federation of India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) to jointly organise three day long Krushi Odisha 2023 at Biju Patnaik Play Ground, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar

13. A Four-day Plantation Expo to begin at Kanakakunnu, Thiruvananthapuram. February 16-19 ‘Plantation Expo’ will be opened at 6 pm on the Sooryakanthi Exhibition Grounds at Kanakakunnu Palace.

14. UP Board Exam 2023: The Uttar Pradesh Education Board will commence the UPMSP UP Board Exam 2023 on February 16. State government to impose NSA on cheaters.

15. President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignations of Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Lt. Governor of Ladakh Radha Krishnan Mathur.

Now, Governor of Jharkhand Ramesh Bais will be the new Governor of Maharashtra, while Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra has been appointed as the new Lt. Governor of Ladakh. Eleven other states’ Governor and Lt. Governor also has been reshuffled

CRIME /ACCIDENT REPORT

1. In Jammu and Kashmir, amid forest fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in district Poonch several landmines exploded on Wednesday, but there was no report of any damage.

2. The last rites of 25-year-old Nikki Yadav, who was allegedly murdered by her 24-year-old live-in partner Sahil Gahlot in Delhi, were performed at her native village in Haryana’s Jhajjar. Nikki’s body was dumped in the freezer of Sahil’s dhaba located on the outskirts of Mitraon village in Najafgarh. Sahil married another woman hours after dumping Nikki’s body.

3. KFC cannot claim exclusive rights over the use of the word “chicken”, the Delhi High Court has said. The observation came on an appeal by KFC against the refusal by the Senior Examiner of Trademarks to register “Chicken Zinger” as its trademark. ‘Chicken Zinger’ consists of two words and their use together “doesn’t draw an instant connection”.

4. Three people, including two women and an 11-year-old girl, were killed and 15 others injured after an SUV ploughed into a wedding gathering in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

5. National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a cash reward of ₹15 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Canada-based terror accused Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias ‘Landa’. The identity of the informer will be kept secret, an official spokesperson said.
