1. Today is National Engineers’ Day in India, celebrated on September 15 to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary engineer and statesman Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya (born in 1861), who is widely regarded as one of the foremost nation-builders and civil engineers of India.

7. In Rajasthan, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party got an overall lead in the urban local body elections held across the state. Counting of votes took place today for 10,245 wards across the state. BJP secures 4 of 10 municipal corporations.
8. The Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Project recorded its 41st tunnel breakthrough on 11 September 2026 with the completion of Escape Tunnel-1. The 125-km railway line is being developed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited under the Ministry of Railways at an estimated cost of Rs 37,000 crore, and its target date for completion is December 2029.
9. The WCEF 2026 will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India from September 15 to 18, which would be the first such forum to be held in South Asia. WCEF 2026 will be organized under the theme “Circular Economy: Transition for People and Prosperity” and will gather over 2,000 delegates from over 65 countries to engage in discussions related to real solutions, investments and policy matters concerning the circular economy.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi tomorrow. 1. The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a CGST superintendent and a consultant after an alleged ₹1 crore bribe demand linked to the redevelopment of government-owned flats in New Panvel, Maharashtra.
2. The Supreme Court has launched Jan Soochna Seva in Hindi on Hindi Diwas, offering simplified summaries of key judgments along with audio and video bulletins.
3. The Human Rights Council of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir has expressed concern over prolonged protests and unrest in the region, particularly in Rawalakot and the districts of Poonch and Sudhnooti. The rights body said the demonstrations have now completed 100 days, creating uncertainty and affecting the wider region. It warned that any further delay in meaningful dialogue could deepen public frustration, mistrust and instability.
4. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment informed that, as on date, the Naya Bharat, Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign has reached more than 34.54 crore citizens. These include over 13.70 crore youth and 10.64 crore women.
5. The Government has refuted claims circulating on social media about various government schemes, which are being spread through AI-generated videos featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit has clarified that the video is fake and AI-generated.

A food kiosk in the Hyderabad’s Puppalaguda locality caught fire on Monday. A gas cylinder exploded. According to the authorities, no injuries were recorded during the incident.
The stall structure and the surrounding area were clearly damaged by the explosion, and flames quickly spread.

1. Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters carried out an urgent medical evacuation of four NCC women cadets in Ladakh who were participating in the all-India NCC women cadets high-altitude trek, Aparajita.
The IAF’s Siachen Pioneers helicopter unit, based at Leh, undertook the daring first-light mission at an altitude of 18,500 feet, where low air density, difficult terrain and the absence of a helipad posed significant operational challenges.
2. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has advanced its indigenous unmanned strike capability with the SWIFT-K, a high-speed stealth kamikaze drone designed for rapid, one-way precision attacks.The system combines turbojet propulsion, stealth shaping, and autonomous navigation, marking a significant leap in India’s drone warfare technology.
3. Rudram missile development continues to progress, with Rudram-3 positioned as an advanced hypersonic air-to-surface and anti-radiation missile designed for a range of 550 to 600 kilometres. This weapon is being developed to provide the Indian Air Force with a decisive capability in neutralising enemy defences.
4. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has unveiled its indigenously designed Light Utility Helicopter, a three-ton class, single-engine platform built to meet the demanding operational needs of the Indian Armed Forces in extreme environments.
5. India’s DRDO has achieved a landmark breakthrough in semiconductor technology, successfully fabricating indigenous Gallium Nitride (GaN) chips and Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) for radar and electronic warfare systems. A single chip measuring just 3.5 x 3 mm delivers 30 watts of power at speeds 300 times faster than silicon.
6. The Indian Air Force’s First ‘Dronathon-2026’ commenced yesterday at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer. The three day event aims to strengthen the national goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and enhance the Indian Air Force’s operational capabilities in the unmanned systems domain.

1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed a new framework under which banks will temporarily freeze only the disputed transaction amount, rather than the entire account, when unusual transfers of Rs.1000 or more are flagged as potentially linked to mule accounts or cyber fraud. Banks will be required to use AI-based transaction monitoring systems to identify transfers that are sudden, disappropriate to a customer’s declared profile, or linked to a known cyberfraud network.
3. Oil prices rise: Global oil prices have moved above $100 per barrel amid disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict and reduced flows through important energy routes.
