1. The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan has completed five years yesterday, marking significant progress in integrated infrastructure planning and development in the country. The master plan was launched on this day in 2021 with the aim of transforming India’s infrastructure landscape.

Four people, including a child, died after an electric car crashed into a roadside railing and caught fire on the Vijayawada West Bypass near Nunna in NTR district on 12 October. One other person was critically injured. Police are investigating the cause.

1. The Indian Army launched Bharat Rice on October 12, 2026, to improve ration quality for troops. A five-year MoU with FCI will strengthen military logistics and support supplies to remote areas,
2. The Indian Army has received its largest-ever consignment of 450 indigenous loitering munition systems. The delivery, completed on 13 October, was made under an emergency procurement order placed the previous year, highlighting India’s efforts to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing.
3. The Indian Navy is set to commission INS Samarthak, an indigenously built multipurpose warship. The vessel is part of India’s efforts to strengthen naval capabilities and promote self-reliance in shipbuilding.
4. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will lead a thematic session on semiconductors and next-generation chips at ESTIC 2026, supporting India’s advanced technology and defence research ambitions.
