1. The Adani Group is investing ₹1,500 crore in Hyderabad over the next two to three years. The investment aims to establish Hyderabad as a hub for manufacturing missiles and unmanned vehicles. The Adani Group plans to manufacture long range missiles, naval missiles, next generation anti-radiation missiles, and Rudram-2 Hypersonic Missiles in Hyderabad.

2. Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad, a CPSU under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) has bagged the prestigious “Integrated Electronic Warfare System (IEWS)” contract for the supply of COM segment systems to the Ministry of Defence (Indian Army) from BEL, Hyderabad.

3. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) and Bharat Forge entered into a partnership to manufacture components for remotely piloted aircraft. The partnership aims to build capabilities for both companies and support the Indian unmanned aircraft industry.

4. India’s leading shipbuilder Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd has launched a next-generation (NG) electric ferry named ‘Dheu’ (which means ‘wave’). The vessel, which is West Bengal’s first next-gen electric ferry.

5. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on January 12 said that it has imposed monetary penalties on ESAF Small Finance Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, and Punjab and Sind Bank.

1. After nearly seven-and-a-half years, the wreckage of an Indian Air Force An-32 aircraft, missing since July 2016 with 29 personnel on board, has been discovered 3.4 km deep in the Bay of Bengal. Images from an autonomous underwater vehicle confirm the identity of the plane, found 310 km off the Chennai coast. Despite extensive search efforts, no personnel or wreckage had been located earlier. The National Institute of Ocean Technology utilized advanced technology, including deep-sea exploration by AUV, to uncover the aircraft’s debris.

2. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight test of the New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) missile on Friday.The test was conducted at 10:30 AM from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

3. The Indian and Japanese Coast Guards conducted a successful joint exercise, ‘Sahyog Kaijin,’ off the Chennai coast.

4. Indian Navy will get a unique and advance fabric for its uniform. According to the Navy, it will be a technically advanced uniform fabric.The Navy said, “Specifications of the new Anti-fungal, Anti-Microbial and Anti-bacterial fabric are specially developed for tropical conditions with improved moisture management tech and higher whiteness index lasting multiple washing cycles.

5. The Indian Army has developed the Secure Army Mobile Bharat Version (SAMBHAV) ecosystem in collaboration with the National Centres of Excellence from academia and industry. SAMBHAV, operating on contemporary 5G technology, represents a crucial advancement for India’s defence infrastructure.

6. The ecosystem is designed to provide a secure communication platform and is set to configure 35,000 sets in two phases. The initial phase aims to configure 2,500 sets by 15 January, with the remaining 32,500 sets scheduled to be completed by 31 May 2024.

7. The Japan Coast Guard ship Yashima has arrived in Chennai to conduct a joint exercise with the Indian Coast Guard.

Telangana State government has assured to extend its full support to the Indian Navy in establishing its low frequency radar station at Damagundam, forest area, in Parigi constituency.Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended the support after being informed that the project was being developed without harming the forest area and the temple in the area.
