1. The second Civil Investiture Ceremony for this year’s Padma Awards will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, where President Smt Droupadi Murmu will confer the country’s prestigious civilian honours on 65 distinguished personalities.
The Padma Awards, announced annually on Republic Day, are among India’s highest civilian honours. This year, the President approved 131 awards, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours.

10. Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting in New Delhi on the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River. Addressing the meeting, Mr Shah said that a clean and pristine Yamuna is a collective resolve under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called for coordinated efforts by the governments of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, along with concerned ministries, under an integrated action plan.
11. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has achieved nationwide coverage with West Bengal joining the World’s largest health assurance scheme yesterday. The scheme provides health cover of up to five lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to eligible beneficiaries.

1. INDIA bloc meeting was held in New Delhi yesterday. Various opposition party leaders attended the meeting. It included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, among others. Some opposition parties including Aam Aadmi Party and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) distanced themselves from the meeting.
2. Trinamool Congress’ Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha Sukhendu Sekhar Roy has announced his resignation. Mr. Roy has stepped down not only from the Upper House but also from the primary membership of the Trinamool Congress.
3. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren suffered a major legal setback after a special PMLA court rejected his discharge petition in a money laundering case linked to 8.86 acres of land in Ranchi’s Badgai area
4. Trinamool Congress strongman Jahangir Khan was arrested by the West Bengal Police. He was apprehended near the Nepal border. He was reportedly attempting to flee across the border when he was detained and brought back to Kolkata for further questioning.
5. The Enforcement Directorate is conducting searches at four locations across the Mizoram-Myanmar border, the Tripura-Bangladesh border and West Bengal in a money laundering case linked to a drug trafficking network. The case is related to NCB seizure made by the Agartala Zonal Unit, in which over 49 kilograms of methamphetamine and 40 grams of heroin were recovered.

1. In Andhra Pradesh, a major fire at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today claimed eight lives and left six others injured. The injured workers were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, while rescue efforts continued at the site. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu have expressed grief at the loss of lives in the incident.
2. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep sorrow over the road accident involving a private bus carrying pilgrims from Nellore district in Bihar and announced financial assistance for the victims and their families. The private bus, which left Nellore district for a Kashi pilgrimage, met with an accident in Bihar after reportedly colliding with an oncoming lorry.
