1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building of NAMO Airport in Daman as part of a ₹2,970 crore development package. The modern airport facility is set to improve regional connectivity, boost tourism, attract investment, and support economic growth in the Union Territory.

2. The Andhra Pradesh government launched Yogandhra 2026, a statewide campaign aimed at promoting yoga and healthy living ahead of the International Yoga Day. The 14-day programme will culminate on 21st of June with a grand International Yoga Day celebration in Amaravati, where thousands of participants are expected to perform yoga together.

3. Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has flagged off the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ program to mark the World Cycle Rally at Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad. The cycle rally was organized by the Telangana Sports Authority.

4. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh launched a mobile application offering a smart digital guide to the zoo and inaugurated self-ticketing kiosks at the National Zoological Park (NZP) in New Delhi. The initiatives aim to enhance visitor experience by enabling easier online ticket booking and promoting digital services at the zoo.

5. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Western Region, has directed all food business operators to immediately discontinue the use of newspapers for packing or serving food items, citing serious health risks.

6. In Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) announced its three candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled to be held on the 18th of June.

7. West Bengal Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Agnimitra Paul chaired a high-level administrative review meeting at Siliguri. Discussions focused on municipal affairs, women and child development, social welfare, disaster management, sanitation, drainage, waste management, traffic regulation and the implementation of various government schemes.

8. On World Environment Day 2026, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 18 Namo Oxygen Parks across Delhi. The government also launched major green initiatives, announced a target of planting 15 lakh trees.

9. West Bengal is set to become the 36th State to implement Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which is the world’s largest publicly funded health assurance scheme.

10. Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) released a new green chilli variety named KAU Thejaswini on 7 June 2026. The variety was developed at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, under the Department of Vegetable Science.

11. UIDAI CEO Saurabh Vijay Takes Charge as CEO of IndiaAI Mission
Saurabh Vijay CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has assumed the charge as the Chief Executive Officer of the IndiaAI Mission.

12. Tamil Nadu released India’s first state-level Standard Operating Procedure for Cool Roof Coating Application on 5 June 2026, which is World Environment Day. The document sets a framework for cool roof initiatives as a passive cooling measure for homes, schools, and public buildings. Cool roof coating is a surface treatment with high solar reflectance and thermal emittance. It reduces heat absorption by building roofs and lowers indoor temperatures in hot climates.

13. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the exam city intimation slip for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled to be held on 21 of this month.

14. The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of westcentral and entire northeast Bay of Bengal yesterday. According to the India Meteorological Department, southwest monsoon also advanced into some more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal, entire Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and some parts of Tripura, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh

1. In Maharashtra, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has dismantled a gold smuggling syndicate under Operation Golden Nexus at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The agency seized 3.2 kilograms of foreign-origin gold worth around five crore rupees and arrested seven people.

2. Kerala Forest Department launched HAWK, or Hostile Activity Watch Kernel, on 6 June 2026 as India’s first digital system that integrates the judiciary for wildlife offence management. The platform links forest enforcement records with the District Court Management System through an Application Programming Interface and stores case data in a centralised database.

3. Nearly 30 years after Sun TV Network had telecast journalist Nakheeran R. Gopal’s 1996 interview with forest brigand Veerappan, the Madras High Court has directed the television network to pay damages of ₹10 lakh to actor R. Sukanya for not having edited out scandalous allegations levelled against her by the interviewee.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Major Abhilasha Barak on being conferred the UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. In a social media post, he said the honour recognises Major Barak’s exemplary service and India’s long-standing contribution to United Nations peacekeeping efforts.

2. India and the United States held the 29th Army-to-Army Staff Talks in Hawaii on 6 June 2026. The talks formed part of bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries and covered military coordination, professional exchanges, and interoperability. Army-to-Army Staff Talks are a formal military dialogue mechanism between the Indian Army and the United States Army.

3. India showcased the indigenous Zorawar light tank and TEJASTRA at Larsen & Toubro’s Hazira facility in Gujarat in June 2026. The Zorawar platform is a 25-tonne light tank developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation and Larsen & Toubro for high-altitude combat along the Line of Actual Control.
