All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, News Delhi has distributed artificial intelligence-enabled smart vision glasses to 40 visually impaired individuals, enabling them to interpret their surroundings through sound. 14. The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, yesterday approved key proposals to strengthen tribal and technical education in the state. The Cabinet cleared the upgradation of five primary Ashram schools to secondary level and 19 secondary schools to higher secondary level (junior colleges).
15. Nagaland has taken a major push to expand health coverage of its younger citizens, with the launch of the ‘100 Days Ayushman Student Coverage Mission’. The Mission is being rolled out across the state from May to August led by the Nagaland Health Protection Society in collaboration with the district administrations.
16. The Nagaland Government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Tata Motors Limited for the procurement of 43 buses with an outlay of 13 cores to strengthen public transport services under the Nagaland State Transport (NST) department.

2. Questioning the fairness of the West Bengal Assembly polls, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) demanded that the Supreme Court take immediate cognisance of the poll process and that the video recording of vote counting be made available to the people.

1. An IndiGo flight at Chandigarh airport was evacuated after a power bank reportedly caught fire inside the aircraft, causing panic among passengers. The incident took place after the flight, arriving from Hyderabad, had already landed and was parked for passengers to get off. Smoke filled the cabin following the fire, leading to chaos onboard.
2. Malayalam Actor Santhosh Nair was killed after a road accident at Enathu in the district in the early hours of Tuesday.

1. The Indian Army contingent has departed to Cambodia for the second edition of India-Cambodia Bilateral Military Exercise CINBAX-II. In a social media post, Additional Directorate General of Public Information of Indian Army said that the exercise is scheduled to be conducted at Techo Sen Phnom Thom Mreas Prov Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre (Camp Basil), from 04 to 17 of this month.
2. India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) — which serves to inform pilots of conditions that affect flight safety — restricting airspace over Bay of Bengal from May 6 to 9, covering a corridor of approximately 3,560 km from Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast.
3. The Border Security Force has seized an abandoned Pakistani boat along the Kutch border. The recovery was made during routine patrolling in the sensitive Creek and Harami Nala areas of the international border in Kutch district.
During preliminary inspection, fishing equipment and nets were recovered from the boat, though no explosive material was found.
4. In Punjab, the twin explosions that had occurred outside heavily guarded BSF Frontier Headquarters in Jalandhar and an Army establishment at Khasa in Amritsar last night are part of Pakistan’s nefarious designs perpetrated by its ISI.
