1. The government notified the Semicon 2.0 scheme with an outlay of 1.27 lakh crore rupees to boost the chip manufacturing ecosystem in the country. With this, India could account for nearly 10 percent of the global semiconductor industry market in the coming years and is expected to play a much bigger role in the global semiconductor value chain. Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said this while addressing the media in New Delhi.
2. Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister, Jagat Prakash Nadda, will inaugurate the two-week-long Swachhata Pakhwada-2026. The Pakhwada will be observed till the 15th of September. Concurrently, public awareness will be generated regarding the elimination of single-use plastics and promoting the use of cloth bags and reusable bottles.
3. The draft of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Delhi has been published yesterday. According to the draft electoral roll, out of 1 crore 45 lakh 10 thousand 299 electors, a total of 97 lakh 53 thousand 577 electors have submitted the enumeration forms.

14. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has unveiled the state’s first drinking water treatment project using ozone in Dehra of Kangra district. The government has provided ₹46 crore for this project to improve the quality of drinking water available to the people.
15. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red colour warning for very heavy rainfall to extremely heavy rainfall over Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Heavy rainfall is expected over Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and all northeastern states.

The National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit of Ministry of Home Affairs has advised people against a rise in financial frauds through malicious Android applications masquerading as pornography apps. The Ministry said that these applications are being circulated mainly through advertisements on Facebook and Instagram under names such as Night Play, Reloop, Kyss, Vimo, Rivo, Nexo and Vixa, among other similar variants.

1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident that occurred in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh.
A massive explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing unit near the Prayagraj–Kaushambi border in Uttar Pradesh on 31 August 2026.
The blast was extremely powerful and destroyed the factory building and several nearby houses.
The latest reports say 11 people died.
2. Three villagers, including two women, died and four others sustained bullet injuries after armed miscreants allegedly attacked N Teikhang Kuki village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Monday, police said.

The M72 carbine, crafted by the Bangalore-based defence firm SSS Defence, represents a significant milestone in domestic arms production.It is a 100% indigenously designed and manufactured 5.56×45 mm tactical weapon specifically tailored for urban combat, counter-terrorism, and tactical law enforcement duties.

INS Nipun, the second Diving Support Vessel of the Indian Navy, was formally commissioned at Mumbai’s Naval Dockyard on 31 August 2026.The ceremony was presided over by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, marking another important milestone in strengthening India’s maritime capabilities in the specialised domain of deep-sea diving and underwater operations.
