1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu has called upon students to use education as a means to build an equitable and inclusive society. She said educated youth should not work only for their own progress but also strive to uplift the weaker sections and contribute to nation-building. The President said this while addressing the first convocation of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh in Visakhapatnam yesterday.

2. PM Modi yesterday interacted with various secretaries to several ministries at Seva Teerth in New Delhi. The discussion focused on two key themes. The first was Deregulation and other reforms for Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living while the second was promoting Aatmanirbharta.

3. National Study Report titled Low Participation in Gram Sabha across States and Union Territories is scheduled for release on 30 June 2026 in New Delhi. The study was prepared by the National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj for the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and covers Gram Sabha participation across States and Union Territories.

4. The Viksit Bharat- Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), B-G RAM G] Act, 2025 will come into force across rural India with effect from today.

6. The Indian Railways will launch three projects worth over 1100 crore rupees to improve communication and operational system.

(a) The Railways has approved the doubling of over 44 km Mansi-Saharsa section of East Central Railway at a cost of 499 crore rupees.

(b) Replacement of relay-based interlocking with Electronic Interlocking at 27 stations.

( c) Provision of Balance 48-Fibre Optical Fibre Cable across South Eastern Railway.

7. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 2.0 Portal and the Electronic Overseas Citizen of India Card in New Delhi.

8. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has begun in Delhi, Jharkhand,Meghalaya, Karnataka and Maharashtra yesterday. As part of the exercise, in Delhi over 13 thousand Booth Level Officers will visit every household till the 29th of next month to distribute pre-printed enumeration forms in duplicate to all existing electors for verification and updation of the electoral rolls.

Jharkhand yesterday observed Hul Diwas with programmes organised across the state to pay tribute to the heroes of the Hul Revolution Sidho-Kanho, Chand-Bhairav, and Phulo-Jhano.Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to them and all the brave tribal warriors who stood firm against the injustice of foreign rule.

10. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday emphasized that the vision of Viksit Bharat cannot be achieved without developing the agriculture sector. Addressing the closing ceremony of Khet Bachao Abhiyan in Hisar, Haryana.

11. India has achieved a historic milestone as Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram‑1 rocket has had its Stage 1 successfully stacked at the First Launch Pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.This marks the first time a privately designed, developed, and manufactured orbital rocket has been placed on this government launch pad.

12. All Arrangements in place for 57-Day Amarnath Yatra beginning July 3. Accommodation of 55 thousand pilgrims have been put in place for the annual Amarnath Yatra, with the focus on enhanced security. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board will flag off the first convoy.

13. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange coloured warning for very heavy rainfall over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa for the next two days.

1. In Manipur, a joint team of Assam Rifles along with the civil administration, police and medical department conducted a biometric registration drive for displaced Myanmar nationals in Phaikoh, Shangkhalok and Aloyo villages of Kamjong district.

2. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday (June 29, 2026) wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over “unauthorized levy on the livestock transport vehicles transiting through Punjab”.

Referring to the protests of the All-Kashmir Wholesale Mutton Dealers Union, Mr. Abdullah said, “Livestock-laden vehicles bound for J&K are allegedly being stopped by certain contractor groups operating in connection with cattle fairs and subjected to unauthorized fee collection despite carrying all valid permits and requisite documentation.”

3. The Government has extended the due date for filing of appeals before the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) till the 31st of next month. According to the Ministry of Finance, an earlier notification dated September last year had notified yesterday (30.06.2026) as the last date for filing of appeals before GSTAT.

4. A special Pune court on Monday sentenced a 65-year-old man to death for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a three-year-old girl in Nasrapur village, a brutal crime that sparked widespread public outrage and protests across Maharashtra. Terming the case as “rarest of the rare”.

1. The Indian Army dismissed recent media reports claiming that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had encroached into Arunachal Pradesh and set up camps. In an official statement, the Army labeled the claims as “incorrect and without any basis”.

2. The Delegation of Financial Powers (DFP-2026) for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is a major financial reform launched by the Ministry of Defence to decentralize decision-making, boost functional empowerment, and accelerate strategic R&D projects.

3. India’s missile arsenal has expanded significantly, combining battlefield validation with rising exports to enhance its global profile.The trio of Agni, Pralay, and BrahMos represents a layered capability. Agni provides nuclear deterrence with ranges extending up to 8,000 kilometres and multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle technology.

4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said India’s defence exports had risen from around Rs 1,000 crore in 2014 to approximately Rs 39,000 crore, attributing the increase to reforms aimed at expanding domestic manufacturing and encouraging private sector participation.

5. The Indian Army is preparing to introduce its first unmanned T-72 main battle tank as part of a major modernisation drive. Instead of retiring this ageing Soviet-era armour, the military is transforming it into a remotely controlled combat system.

6. The Indian Air Force concluded the fifth Warfare & Aerospace Strategy Programme (WASP) with a Capstone Seminar on 29 June 2026 in New Delhi. The seminar marked the end of a six-month Professional Military Education programme conducted by the Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS) in New Delhi and the College of Air Warfare (CAW) in Hyderabad.

7. General Dhiraj Seth assumed charge as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff on 30 June 2026. He succeeded General Upendra Dwivedi, who retired on the same day after four decades of service.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will get a new Vice Chief, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, on Wednesday, marking a change at the top of the military hierarchy.

8. Project BRAHMANK is a Border Roads Organisation project in Arunachal Pradesh that was formally commissioned in December 2011. It completed 16 years of Raising Day on 29 June 2026 at Ranaghat in Arunachal Pradesh. Project BRAHMANK is responsible for the development and maintenance of 811 km of roads and about 86 bridges.

1. Union Cabinet approved an additional ₹30,000 crore investment by the Government of India into the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) on 29 June 2026. The fresh allocation raises the government’s total commitment to NIIF to ₹60,000 crore and supports the creation of NIIF Infrastructure Fund II, which has a target corpus of about ₹30,000 crore.

2. The Centre has revised the special additional excise duty on the export of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), with the new rates set to come into effect from July 1, 2026. While the export duty on petrol has been increased, the levy on diesel has been reduced. The government has also expanded export exemptions for select neighbouring countries.
