8. Punjab is ready to procure 132 Lakh Metric Ton (LMT) Wheat against the target of 122 LMT during the procurement season starting from today. The Minimum Support Price for wheat has been fixed at 2585 rupees Per Quintal.
9. In Assam, home voting for elderly voters above 85 years of age and persons with disabilities has commenced. According to the Election Commission of India, a total of 19,774 elderly voters above 85 years and 6,638 persons with disabilities have been approved by the Returning Officers to avail the home voting facility in the state.

At least nine people, mostly women, were killed and several injured in a stampede at the Sheetla Mata temple in Bihar’s Nalanda district on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The incident occurred in Maghada village during morning prayers, prompted by massive overcrowding and alleged inadequate security. A probe has been initiated, and the Bihar government announced ₹6 lakh ex-gratia for the families of the deceased, with an additional ₹2 lakh from the PM Relief Fund.

1. India is set to receive its fourth S-400 Triumf air defence system by the end of April, with deployment planned in the Western sector, most likely Rajasthan. An Indian Air Force team has already arrived in Russia to inspect the system before delivery.
2. Mountain Radars Procurement: The Ministry of Defence signed a ₹1,950 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the procurement of two indigenously developed mountain radars for the Indian Air Force under the ‘Buy Indian’ category.
3. T-90 Gunnery Simulators: The MoD issued a Request for Information (RFI) to procure 50 advanced basic gunnery simulators for the Indian Army’s T-90 tank fleet. These will replicate real-world gunnery conditions for training.
4. Pakistan’s ‘Zombie’ Jets Strategy: Pakistan Air Force is exploring the conversion of retired F-7 fighters into high-speed kamikaze (“zombie”) assets to saturate or target the Indian S-400 batteries.
5. Western Command ‘Exercise Reccy’: The Indian Army’s Western Command launched a 72-hour long ‘Exercise Reccy’ under the Kharga Corps to enhance combat readiness, focusing on stealth, endurance, and reconnaissance in challenging conditions.
6. AMCA See-Through Helmet (HMDS): The DRDO is developing an advanced indigenous Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS) for the AMCA. It integrates Augmented Reality (AR), sensor fusion, and manned-unmanned teaming into a single combat interface. A major breakthrough is its integration with the fighter’s Distributed Aperture System (DAS), allowing pilots to “see through” the aircraft floor/walls using real-time infrared feeds. It will also allow pilots to control wingman drones (like CATS Warrior) and view their live feeds directly through the visor.
7. GRSE Delivers Three Warships: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) achieved a major milestone by delivering three warships to the Indian Navy simultaneously. These include the INS Udaygiri (stealth guided-missile frigate), Sandhayak (survey vessel), and Agray (anti-submarine warfare shallow watercraft).
8. Indian Navy has received INS Dunagiri, the fifth stealth frigate under the Nilgiri-class (Project 17A), marking a major advancement in indigenous warship construction. The induction strengthens India’s maritime capabilities and highlights progress in self-reliant defence manufacturing.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes- CBDT has signed a record 219 Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with Indian taxpayers during the financial year 2025-26, marking the highest ever in a single year since the programme’s inception. According to the Finance Ministry, the total number of APAs signed so far has crossed the one-thousand mark, reaching over one thousand agreements. These include 750 Unilateral APAs and 284 Bilateral APAs.
