8. BJP leader BS Yediyurappa said his son BY Vijayendra will not contest the Assembly poll from Varuna constituency, where Congress has fielded former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah. He added that Vijayendra will fight from “my constituency”, referring to Shikaripura in Shivamogga district.

9. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has threatened Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with a defamation suit after the latter alleged in the Delhi Assembly that there are several corruption cases against Sarma.

10. The Hyderabad Metro has announced an ‘off-peak hours’ offer, with a 10% discount, which commuters can avail on Contactless Smart Cards (CSC) from 6 am to 8 am and 8 pm to 11 pm. The changes in fares will come into effect from April 1.

11. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has named Dipali Das, daughter of the slain minister Naba Kisore Das, as its candidate for the upcoming Jharsuguda bypoll. The bypoll was necessitated by the death of Das, who was gunned down by a police officer at Brajrajnagar in January.

12. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that an illiterate or less educated Prime Minister is very dangerous for the country. This comes after the Gujarat High Court imposed ₹25,000 fine on Kejriwal for seeking information on PM Narendra Modi’s degrees under RTI Act.

13. A transgender person who identifies as a woman after undergoing gender reassignment surgery can seek relief under the Domestic Violence Act, the Bombay HC noted. “The…purpose…of the…act is to provide…effective protection of the rights of the women who are victims of violence,” the court said.

14. A video has surfaced online that shows the Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand covered in snow. The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open for the devotees from April 25.

2. Fugitive Amritpal Singh’s accomplice Joga Singh has been arrested in Punjab. He allegedly provided the Scorpio vehicle used by Amritpal to run away from authorities about two weeks ago. Amritpal fled from the Hoshiarpur village in Punjab with his aide Papalpreet Singh and driver Joga.

1. The Reserve Bank of India was founded on 1 April 1935 to respond to economic troubles after the First World War. The bank was set up based on the recommendations of the 1926 Royal Commission on Indian Currency and Finance, also known as the Hilton Young Commission using recommendations and guidelines received from Dr. B R Ambedkar based on his book, ‘The Problem Of The Rupee: Its Origin And Its Solution’.

2. On the line of One Nation, One Grid and One Tariff the levelized Unified Tariffs in the Natural Gas Sector will come into effect from tomorrow. The Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has already issued the notification in this regard and it will be implemented in the entire gas network of the country which has been categorized into three tariff zones. The Regulatory Board has said that the levelized Unified tariff will be 73.93 rupees per MBTU (Metric Million British Thermal Unit).

3. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 in New Delhi. He said that,
Foreign Trade Policy to take India’s exports to two trillion dollars by 2030. Unlike the practice of announcing 5-year FTP, the latest policy has no end date and will be updated as and when needed

4. Union Ministry of Rural Development announced changes to the notification issued under Section 6 (1) Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Scheme’s wage rates. The new wage rates ranging from Rs 7 to Rs 26, will come into effect from April 1, 2023.
5. In Maharashtra, toll prices for vehicles on Mumbai-Pune Expressway to increase by 18%

6. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) contributed Rs. 100 crore to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) to assist in the fight against COVID-19 and H3N2 virus.

7. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed monetary penalties totalling ₹1.55 crore on 23 entities for violating regulatory norms. The fine, ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh, was imposed in connection with trading by certain entities in mentha oil futures contracts at Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

8. Shares of Vedanta slipped 2 per cent to Rs 276.20 on the BSE in Friday’s intra-day trade, in an otherwise strong market, after nearly 2 per cent of total equity of the company changed hands on the NSE and BSE.

Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa has seen a dip in collections on its second day. According to our tracking, Bholaa is looking to collect in the range of Rs 6.75 to 7.25 crores on second day, taking the two day total to Rs. 18.20 crore. The opening weekend of Bholaa is expected to be around Rs. 27 crore.

DEFENCE

1. Defence Ministry signed a contract with Ultra Dimensions Private Limited (UDPL) Vishakhapatnam for modernisation of Naval Aircraft Yards at Goa and Kochi at a cost of 470 crore rupees.

2. PM Modi has termed the signing of contract for procurement of Akash Weapon System and 12 Weapon Locating Radars, WLR Swathi (Plains) for the Indian Army. The contract for procurement of improved Akash Weapon System (AWS) for the 3rd and 4th Regiments of Army Air Defence, comprising live Missiles and Launchers with upgrades, Ground Support Equipment, Vehicles and Infrastructure was signed with Bharat Dynamics Limited, worth over eight thousand 160 crore rupees.

3. The Prime Minister has also lauded the signing of 19 thousand 600 crore rupees contracts with Indian shipyards for acquisition of 11 Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels and six Next Generation Missile Vessels for the Indian Navy.
