#External affairs Minister: Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

1. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that he held “comprehensive talks” with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on bilateral ties and global security. The two leaders also paid special attention to the Peace Formula and the next steps to be adopted for its implementation.
2. In a major milestone for India-France relations, French ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou inaugurated the “Bureau de France” in Hyderabad to enhance cooperation between France and Telangana.’Bureau de France’ is the branch office of the Consulate General of France in Bengaluru, was inaugurated at T-Hub, Raidurg.
3. The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Kamal Kishore of India as the new Assistant Secretary-General and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction. He will lead the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
4. Pakistan has made a U-turn on resuming trade with India. On Thursday (Mar 28), Pakistan’s Foreign Office said it had no plan to resume trade relations with India, days after new Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Islamabad would seriously consider restoring ties with New Delhi.
Trade relations between the two countries have been non-existent since 2019 after the Modi government abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

1. Days after the suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan , in which five Chinese engineers were killed, Chinese companies have temporarily suspended civil work at the sites of the Dasu and Diamer-Bhasha Dams due to security concerns.
2. NASA is gearing up to launch three sounding rockets during the upcoming total solar eclipse on 8 April 2024.
Notably, sounding rockets are suborbital rockets designed to carry scientific instruments or experiments into the upper atmosphere of the Earth for the purpose of gathering data. They are typically used for atmospheric studies.
3. In South Africa, just days before Easter, a bus crash on Thursday (Mar 28) claimed the lives of 45 pilgrims travelling to an Easter service. The bus carrying 46 people was travelling from Botswana’s capital, Gaborone, to an Easter service in the town of Moria in the north of South Africa.
