1. 🙏🏻💐 MAHA SHIVRATRI . It is usually celebrated on the 13 th or 14 th day of the Krishna Paksha of the Indian month of Falgun. As per English calendars, it usually falls in the month of February or March. According to the position of the moon, Maha Shivratri falls just before the occurrence of the new moon.

2. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu has extended her best wishes to citizens, especially women, on the eve of International Women’s Day. The Day is observed every year on the 8th of March.

3. PM Narendra Modi performed Bhoomi Pujan and inaugurated projects worth 118 crore 72 lakh rupees in Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing on Thursday. These include various projects in Gwalior and Chitrakoot under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme and development work of Amarkantak and Pitambara Peeth Temple Datia under Prasad scheme.

4. Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Commerce and Industry, and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, launched the ‘e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi’ (Digital Gateway) of the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) in New Delhi. This initiative is poised to become a cornerstone in India’s journey to becoming a developed nation, ‘Viksit Bharat’, by 2047, with agriculture as its foundational pillar.

5. PM Modi is scheduled to embark on a day-long visit to Arunachal Pradesh on March 9 to inaugurate several development projects including the Sela Tunnel which will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang bordering China.

6. PM Modi virtually inaugurated Agra Metro from Kolkata. CM Yogi Adityanath took the inaugural ride on the priority corridor on March 6. The 6 km long priority corridor connects the iconic Taj Mahal’s eastern gate to the Mankameshwar Temple station, providing a vital transportation link for tourists and commuters alike.

7. Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has announced a complete waiver of electricity bills for private tube wells owned by farmers, effective from 1 April, 2023.

8. PM Modi said that potential of tourism along with the capabilities of farmers and youth will pave the way for Viksit Jammu Kashmir. He was speaking after launching several development projects worth over 6,400 crore rupees during Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu and Kashmir programme at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar on Thursday.

9. Congress poll committee holds first meeting, where candidates for the northeastern States, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana were discussed; Shashi Tharoor may be fielded again from Thiruvananthapuram. Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

10. Bengaluru is reeling with drinking water shortage as the Government initiates steps to supply drinking water through tankers. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K Shivakumar reviewed the situation in Bengaluru and issued instructions to the officials to fix rates for the private water tankers and initiate action against private water suppliers fleecing the public.

11. DMK’s former candidate, Shimla Muthuchozhan, who contested against Jayalalithaa in 2016, joins AIADMK.

12. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday inspected the Coastal Road in Mumbai and said that the first phase would commence soon.

13. The Telangana school education department has issued an order for half-day schools amid rising temperatures. Effective from March 15 until the last working day of the academic session that is April 23, 2024, all primary, upper primary, and high schools across the state, irrespective of management — be it government, government-aided, or private — will operate from 8 am to 12.30 pm.

14. Senior BJP leader and Union home minister Amit Shah will address the party’s booth presidents and otherleaders at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on March 12.

15. Andhra pradesh CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs 5,060.49 crore under YSR Cheyutha financial assistance for the fourth consecutive year under his rule, benefiting 26,98,931 poor women of 45 – 60 years from SC, ST, BC and minorities.

16. West Bengal BJP MLA has defected to the Trinamul Congress. He is Mukutmani Adhikari who won from Ranaghat South in Nadia for the first time in 2021 Assembly Election and belongs to the Matuas, a community of Hindu migrants. His entry to TMC came a day after BJP recruited former TMC MLA of Baranagar Tapas Roy.

1. The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared Lashkar-e-Taiba member Mohammad Qasim Gujjar, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967. According to the Ministry, Mohammad Qasim Gujjar is presently residing in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

2. The Bombay High Court issued notice to the Maharashtra government seeking its response on a PIL filed against the decision to grant a 10 per cent quota in jobs and education to the Maratha community.

3. The Madras high court has directed the state to explain an allegation by NHAI that state authorities were not cooperating with them for the removal of unauthorised flag posts put up by political parties along national highways.

4. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday busted a major human trafficking network involved in sending Indian youths to Russia-Ukraine war zone on the pretext of lucrative jobs.

According to officials, the CBI is conducting searches across Delhi, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Ambala, Chandigarh, Madurai and Chennai. The officials said the agency has registered an FIR against various visa consultancy firms and agents.

5. The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) cancelled the English exam of Class X at a centre after the paper was leaked at Chatehra village of Gohana subdivision, the Hindi paper of Class XII was leaked at Bhawar village of Gohana area.

6. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday summoned Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal directing him to appear physically before the court on March 16, 2024. According to the reports, the latest summons came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) complained to the court that the AAP leader is not cooperating in the investigation related to now scrapped Delhi excise policy money laundering.

1. The Union Cabinet has approved to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners from 1 Jan 2024

1. Ajay Devgn’s highly anticipated Hindi film, “Shaitaan,” featuring Kollywood stars Madhavan and Jyotika in pivotal roles, is set for a grand theatrical release on March 8, 2024.

This supernatural horror thriller is an official adaptation of the acclaimed Gujarati movie “Vash” (2023).

1. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft. Cabinet committee on security approves ₹15,000 crore program.
