1. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail storms over East, Central and Peninsular India for the next four days. It will occur over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Maharashtra till Thursday.

2. Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar urged young professionals to be part of the endeavour of making India a developed country by 2047. He was addressing the 6th convocation ceremony of IIM Bodhgaya on Sunday (7th April 2024) in Bihar.

3. Withdrawal of nominations for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections ends on Monday (8th April 2024). 1. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a collective fast to protest the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged Liquor Scam. Party leaders including Aatishi, Sanjay Singh and Gopal Rai protested at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

One NIA officer was injured and a vehicle was damaged on Saturday when the NIA team was going to arrest two persons in the Bhupatinagar blast case, in which three persons were killed in December 2022.

The 20-year-old veterinary student Sidharthan JS, whose body was found hanging inside the bathroom of the college hostel in Kerala’s Wayanad district on February 18, was assaulted for around 29 hours “continuously” by seniors and classmates before he died by suicide, according to a media report.

1. India aims to halt urea imports by the end of 2025 by boosting domestic production and promoting alternative fertilizers. This is in response to the nation’s significant reliance on imports, which currently satisfy around 30% of its annual urea demand. Urea production has risen steadily, reaching 284.95 lakh tonnes in 2022-23.

2. The National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Ltd. (NCDFI), the national-level apex dairy cooperative, has elected its new Board of Directors. In the elections held, Dr. Meenesh Shah was unanimously chosen as the new Chairman of the organization.

1. Chinese actor and martial artist Jackie Chan turned 70 on 7 April.

2. It has come to light that BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN AND MAIDAAN won’t have a full-fledged release on April 10. Instead, the films will have paid previews on the said date. In other words, the shows of the films will commence from 6:00 pm onwards.

(a) Bade Miyan Chote Miyan stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in leading roles with Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist. Alaya F and Manushi Chhillar are the leading ladies and the film also has a special appearance by Sonakshi Sinha. It is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment.

(b) Maidaan, meanwhile, is a period sports flick directed by Amit R Sharma of Badhaai Ho (2018) fame and produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Zee Studios. It stars Ajay Devgn, Priyamani and Gajraj Rao and is based on the golden era of Indian football, between 1952 and 1962. Ajay plays Syed Abdul Rahim, an accomplished Indian coach in this film.

3. Heist comedy movie “Crew” has earned Rs 104.08 crore cumulative worldwide in gross box office collection (GBOC) within nine days of its release, the makers said on Sunday. Directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, the film released on March 29 and stars Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon in the lead.

4. Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, who is making her electoral debut as the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Lok Sabha seat has sparked a debate over India’s first Prime Minister. Kangana told a TV news channel that Netaji Subash Chandra Bose was India’s first PM and also supported her remark by citing a news article clipping that purportedly mentioned that Bose had declared himself the PM of ‘Azad Hind’ in 1943.
