The rivers covered under the academic partnership program include the Narmada, Godavari, Mahanadi, Krishna, Cauvery and Periyar.

7. On February 28th 2024, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani launched the logo and website for the Alliance for Global Good – Gender Equity and Equality. The alliance marks India’s leadership in spearheading global action for women empowerment under its G20 presidency.

8. Jammu & Kashmir is set to host the annual ‘Tawi Festival’ from 1st March to 4th March 2024.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has announced that it has been awarded the SATHI (Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institute) project along with its cluster partners by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The project comes with a grant of Rs 60 crore over the next four years, aimed at setting up advanced research facilities at the institute.

The Telangana state government has issued a directive for the adoption of the One Time Scheme (OTS) across all urban local bodies (ULBs), including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). This initiative is geared towards alleviating the financial strain faced by property owners who are grappling with mounting arrears interest on property tax payments.

1. EXPLOSION AT THE RAMESHWARAM CAFÉ IN BANGALORE : Nine people were injured in a bomb blast at a popular restaurant in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, Kundalahalli, Karnataka. An improvised explosive device (IED) was usedin the blast.

2. Pro-Pakistan slogans were raised in the Karnataka Assembly during the celebration of the Rajaya Sabha win of a Congress candidate, forensic experts confirmed in a report. It is said that both the video and audio and stated that the footage was not manipulated. The detained suspect was identified as Mohmad Shafiq Naashipudi.

3. Enforcement Directorate has attached and frozen over 1,296 crore rupees so far in a case against the illegal betting website Mahadev Online Book. Nine accused have already been apprehended in connection with the case. The agency has recently conducted widespread searches against the money laundering networks linked with Mahadev Online Book in Kolkata, Gurugram, Delhi, Indore, Mumbai, and Raipur.

FSSAI gives ‘Eat Right Station’ certificate to 150 Railway Stations: Ensuring access to safe and nutritious food options for millions of rail passengers, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has awarded its prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification to 150 railway stations.

5. Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted a drone that was allegedly carrying three packets of heroin in the border area of Amritsar district. BSF recovered the drone during a joint search operation with Punjab police in a farming field near Kalash Havelian village. BSF said that it also recovered a mobile phone and signal accessories.

1. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) commissioned its first indigenously manufactured electrolyser at the Green Hydrogen Plant at A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat.

The electrolyser can produce 200 Nm3/Hr of hydrogen and is equipped with two stacks and an Electrolyser Processing Unit (EPU) ML-400, which is indigenously manufactured and assembled. It offers flexibility and thermal stability.

2. Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) and Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) will establish a cutting-edge Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Avionics in Chandigarh for advancing research and development in avionics technology to boost aerospace industry.

3. Microsoft founder Bill Gates met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and revealed that he discussed aspects such as artificial intelligence, innovation in agriculture and health and climate adaptation with him.

4. The Financial Intelligence Unit-India, FIU-IND, has imposed a monetary penalty of 5.49 crore rupees on Paytm Payments Bank Ltd with reference to violations of its obligations under Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Finance Ministry said in a statement that FIU-IND initiated a review of Paytm Payments Bank Ltd on receipt of specific information from law enforcement agencies in respect of few entities and their network of businesses engaged in a number of illegal acts.

5. Indian Railways has achieved 1434.03 MT (Metric Tons) freight loading from April 2023 till February 2024. Freight loading has increased by 66.51 MT as compared to the same period last year. Railways has earned over one lakh 55 thousand 557 crore rupees in the period which is an improvement of around six thousand 468 crore rupees, as compared to the same period of the last year.

6. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that nearly 97.62 per cent of the 2,000 rupees bank notes have returned to the banking system, and only about 8,470 crore rupees worth of the withdrawn notes are still with the public.

1. The four astronaut-designates chosen for India’s ambitious Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission are currently undergoing rigorous training at the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) crew training facility in Bangalore.

The astronaut quartet, comprising Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots, is engaged in a comprehensive training regimen, encompassing classroom sessions, simulator training, microgravity familiarization, survival drills, and flying practices.

2. The Indian Navy is set to induct the MH-60R helicopter into its fleet next week, bolstering its Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities. The MH-60R is designed for anti-surface warfare, search and rescue operations, medical evacuation, and vertical replenishment.

3. ISRO’s LVM-3 rocket, which is slated to be the launch vehicle for Gaganyaan. ISRO is developing and testing life support and escape systems, engines, and special parachutes for India’s maiden human spaceflight mission. The test flight is likely in July 2025.

4. The Indian Navy is going to formally commission the multirole helicopter MH-60 Romeo at Kochi in the next week. The force would also see the buildings of its naval war college in Goa and facilities in Karwar inaugurated around 4 March.

5. Indian Navy is going to commission a new base, INS Jatayu, in the Minicoy Islands of Lakshadweep.

6. The Indian Navy is also going to hold its commanders’ conference on board the twin aircraft carriers, including INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant, where they will be undertaking high-tempo operations like taking off from one carrier and landing at the other, along with participation from other warships and submarines in the carrier battle groups.

7. DRDO conducted two successful flight tests of Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile on 28th & 29th Feb 2024 from a ground based portable launcher off the coast of Odisha from Integrated Test Range. These tests were carried out against high speed unmanned aerial targets under different interception scenarios.

8. Indian Coast Guard ships Samarth and Abhinav depart Galle for Colombo on Friday. The ships had reached Galle on 27th of February. At Galle, the ships undertook multifarious engagements with Sri Lanka Coast Guard, including joint training in boarding ops, pollution response, fire fighting & damage control.

9. President’s honours for two IAF fighter squadrons, two static units : The first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) squadron of the Indian Air Force No. 45 ‘Flying Daggers’ along with the No. 221 Squadron ‘Valiants’ which flew almost one-third of all offensive missions of the IAF during the 1999 Kargil conflict are set to be awarded the President’s Standard while the 11 Base Repair Depot (BRD) and 509 Signal Unit will be presented President’s Colours by President Droupadi Murmu at Hindon Air Force station on March 8.

10. Defence Ministry has signed five major capital acquisition contracts worth over 39,125 crore rupees to further boost Make-in-India initiative. The Contracts were exchanged in the presence of Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane in New Delhi on Friday. Out of the five contracts, one was with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for procurement of Aero-engines for MiG-29 aircraft, two with Larsen and Toubro Limited for procurement of Close-in Weapon System and procurement of High-Power Radar and two with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited for procurement of BrahMos missiles and procurement of Ship borne BrahMos system for the Indian Defence Forces.
