Self care and mental health

Mental health affects our actions , feelings, our thoughts ,and our choices . Just because we don’t have a mental illness doesn’t mean our mental health is good .

We may have an absence of illness but health includes overall health and quality of life .

Mental health includes our emotional , psychological and social well being. Self care is very essential and directly impacts our mental and physical Health . Thus it is essential not only for people dealing with some issues but also people who aspire to have a sound mental health.

Taking a shower daily .

It may seem small but a simple shower is like an accomplishment . Also we all have experienced that a shower always helps in relaxation. It feels like all tension has been washed off . Taking a shower is very helpful for a person’s mental health .

Meditating

It calms one’s mind . In this world of rat race and hectic nature, finding time for meditation will pay off. Meditation helps in promoting emotional health , generates kindness, enhances awareness and reduces stress and anxiety. It is an act of self care.

Engage in positive  self talk.

Remind yourself of things one may be grateful for.

One can even write down 5-10 items her or she may be grateful  for every night. Focus on a positive mind does what it is feeded with soo is better to just focus on positivity and staying away from people who spread negativity. Identify and challenge your negative and unhelpful thoughts .

Being physically active for at least 30 min a day.

Just 30 min of everyday walking can help boost one’s mood and improve their health. Just remember something is better than nothing so don’t get discouraged if you can’t do 30 min at one time . Eating nutritious food, such as fruits and vegetables.

  • For People with mental problems , fueling the body with high quality nutrition can literally help change their life for the better.
  • What you choose to put into your body will influence how you feel both physically and mentally.
  • Eat fresh vegetables and fruits with good fats and also remember to hydrate properly.

Having a Sleeping and waking schedule .

Sleep is the most important thing . Importance of sleep is being ignored in a present lifestyle . But making it apriority is an act of self care. Stick to a schedule , of sleeping and waking up even on weekends.
