The visit commenced with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar participating in a series of discussions with Dr. Hansaji Yogendera and senior faculty members of The Yoga Institute. Her words, ideas and life-long body of work in Yoga, wellness and mindfulness has created powerful discourse in multiple streams of study. In 2019, Dr. Hansaji J. Yogendra was honoured with the Bharat Gaurav Award at the UK House of Commons, London, for her extraordinary contribution to, and excellence in Yoga.

She has conducted more than 1OO,000 yoga sessions and has been honoured with the Prime Minister’s Award for her contribution to the field of Yoga. The Yoga Institute was established in 1918 by the venerable yoga guru Shri Yogendraji, also known as the Father of Modern Yoga Renaissance. The Yoga Institute celebrated its centenary milestone on 25 December 2018. The 100 year anniversary celebration of the Institute was attended by Shri Ramnath Kovind – Ex–President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu – Ex- Vice President of India. Recognizing the philanthropic work done under Dr. Hansaji J. Yogendra’s guidance, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, felicitated The Yoga Institute with the Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Contribution for Promotion and Development in 2018.

The Yoga Institute is a non-profit organization and the oldest organized centre for Yoga in the world.
