1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu met Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan in Bucharest and held fruitful discussions on advancing the India-Romania partnership.
India and Romania have signed three agreements for cooperation in the fields of Science and Technology, Education and Sports.
2. India has expressed disappointment with the United Nations for ignoring the repression in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Speaking at the UN Security Council Open Debate on Strengthening the Mechanisms for Peaceful Settlement of Disputes, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, said that while similar developments in other countries are strongly criticised by the United Nations, such repression in Pakistan does not receive the attention it deserves.
3. The High Commission of India in Ghana has successfully facilitated the repatriation of nine Indian crew members of M/V Rahaf Moon, who had been stranded in Ghana. It said the successful repatriation reflects the Government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the safety, welfare, and well-being of Indian nationals in foreign lands and high seas.
4. India on Friday firmly rejected Pakistan’s assertions made at the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila, reiterating that its position on the Indus Waters Treaty remains unchanged.The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that the treaty will continue to be held in abeyance until Pakistan irrevocably and credibly halts its sponsorship of cross‑border terrorism.

1. Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin resigned yesterday, citing health problems, nearly two years before the end of his five-year term.
2. The United States has imposed new tariffs of up to 12.5 percent on imports from 60 trading partners, including China, the European Union and the UK.
3. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has voiced serious concern over the deteriorating state of freedom of expression in the country, warning that the space for independent journalism is continuing to shrink. The commission’s remarks came after senior journalist Munizae Jahangir’s long-running television programme, Spotlight, was recently taken off air.
4. Wildfires in southwestern France and central Spain led to large-scale evacuations on 24 July 2026. More than 80,000 people left affected areas in both countries, and France and Spain sought assistance from the European Union.
5. The US military carried out a 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iran, saying the attacks are aimed at degrading Tehran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.
6. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial meetings in Manila.
