1. India has strongly condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan in its Kunar and Paktika provinces.
2. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met a delegation of Japanese Parliamentarians from the Liberal Democratic Party in New Delhi. The delegation is being led by Director General of LDP’s International Bureau, Taro Kono, who has previously served as Japan’s Defence Minister, Foreign Minister and Digital Minister.
3. World Rhino Day was observed yesterday across the world, including India, to raise awareness about protecting the five remaining rhinoceros species.
This year’s theme, “Keep the Five Alive,” calls for stronger efforts to protect rhino habitats, prevent poaching and curb the illegal trade in rhino horn.
4. The first V4 + India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held on the margins of the Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar participated in the meeting along with Foreign Ministers of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
5. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held talks with his counterparts from France, Ecuador, Slovakia and Switzerland on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York.
6. India has joined other G20 nations in adopting four consensus outcomes covering household energy access, infrastructure approvals, water reuse and secure critical-mineral supply chains. At a three-day meeting in Houston, Texas, hosted by the White House National Energy Dominance Council, the departments of Energy and the Interior, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
7. The Consulate General of India in Dubai organised a Legal Counselling Camp for Indian nationals in Dubai and the Northern Emirates of the UAE, as part of Seva Pakhwada. The camp, held on 21st September, provided pro-bono legal guidance to members of the Indian community on a range of issues, including cybercrime, financial and banking frauds, misuse of Emirates ID and other related legal matters.
8. Indian High Commission Cautions Nationals Against Seeking Jobs in Malaysia on Tourist Visa: The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has cautioned Indian nationals travelling to Malaysia on tourist visas against taking up employment. In an advisory, the High Commission said that there is a noticeable increase in Indian nationals arriving in Malaysia using the 30-day visa-free facility to seek employment. Many Indian nationals are misled by unscrupulous agents with false job promises, leading to overstay, illegal status, exploitation, detention and legal action.

1. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres pleaded for a world built on interdependence as he made his final address yesterday to the General Assembly gathering of world leaders. The UN leader has long implored leaders not to give up on cooperation and shared decision-making in the face of accelerating global challenges and increasing great-powers competition.
2. Britain has agreed to provide limited support to Saudi Arabia, to counter attacks from Iran-backed Houthis. Riyadh has requested the support after the Houthis, who control the most populous parts of Yemen, intensified their attacks on Saudi Arabia, a new front in the wider war that began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.
3. The United States is stepping up economic pressure on Iran, warning that Iranian airlines could effectively be shut out of international aviation.
4. Google has been fined 403 million euros by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission for breaking strict European Union privacy rules regarding how it tracks people. Regulators found that between 2018 and 2020, Google unlawfully tracked and processed users’ location information through three main features, its Web & App Activity settings, its Location History mapping tool, and the Location Accuracy feature built into the Android operating system.
