1. Supplies of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles from India to the Philippines under a USD 375 million deal, continue as part of the contract between the two nations, defence officials said.The missile system supplies reached at an air base in Manila from India in a chartered Ilyushin-76 transport aircraft on Sunday.

2. Recently, a report published on the official website of Hong Kong’s food regulatory authority– Centre for Food Safety (CFS) on April 5th mentioned that three spice products in India have cancer-causing chemicals that contain a pesticide known as ethylene oxide.

1. Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu’s People’s National Congress (PNC) is set to win the parliamentary elections 2024 held in the island nation on Sunday, 21 April. The official results are are expected to be declared on Monday, 22 April.

2. As the number of satellites in Earth’s orbit continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, experts are raising concerns about the potential impact of space debris on the planet’s magnetic field and atmosphere. Current estimates suggest that there are nearly 10,000 active satellites in orbit.

3. President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday (Apr 21) said that the approval of over $61 billion in military aid for Ukraine by the US House of Representatives is a testament to the fact that his country will not become “a second Afghanistan.”

USA on Saturday (Apr 20) voted 311-112 in favour of giving Ukraine a $60.8bn military aid package, at a time when Kyiv has been fighting against Russia’s invasion over the past two years and is now facing a critical shortage of ammunition to continue its defences.

4. The U.S. Department of State has announced the commencement of planning for the withdrawal of approximately 1,000 American troops from Niger. This decision marks a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy and military strategy in Africa.

5. The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has expressed disappointment and criticism towards Moderna Inc.’s decision to reconsider its plans for building a $500 million vaccine manufacturing facility in Kenya.

Leaked documents from i-Soon, a Chinese cybersecurity company linked to the country’s cybersecurity apparatus, have reportedly provided fresh evidence of China’s extensive cyber espionage operations. These documents shed light on China’s utilisation of hackers to target Hong Kong’s pro-democracy activists and the Uyghur community.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US lawmakers after they voted in favour of aid packages for their countries.The two leaders statement came after the US House of Representatives approved a USD 95.3 billion foreign-aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and other American allies on Saturday.

11. Seven people, including a child, were killed and 23 others were critically injured in a mishap caused during a motor car racing event in Sri Lanka’s Uva province on Sunday.
