1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Hakainde Hichilema on being re-elected as the President of Zambia.
2. The India-Japan Defence Ministers Meeting was held in New Delhi yesterday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Japanese counterpart Shinjiro Koizumi co-chaired the meeting. The discussions focused on deepening maritime security, ‘Make in India’ defence technology, and expanding strategic trust.

1. US President Donald Trump has announced a sweeping new economic warfare against Iran.
2. Veteran Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was today elected as the country’s 23rd President. The 78-year-old leader secured 255 votes in the Presidential election held at the Jatiya Sangsad, the country’s Parliament.
3. Two Ships Hijacked: In two separate hijackings reported on Thursday, a total of 22 Indian nationals aboard commercial vessels were taken by armed groups off the coasts of Yemen and Somalia. The vessel, owned by Polar Movement Shipping, was reportedly carrying weapons destined for a Turkish military training facility in Mogadishu.
