1. PM Modi has congratulated the Indian team for securing four gold medals at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad. The Prime Minister expressed happiness and said that the Indian team had demonstrated exceptional knowledge in subjects such as Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Animal Physiology, Animal Morphology and Systematics, and Plant Computational Biology.
2. India has won one gold and three silver medals at the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2026 held in Vilnius, Lithuania. Bhavyaa Gunwal from Haryana won the gold medal while Soumil Maity from West Bengal, Nishit Kalani from Rajasthan and Anmol Kumar from Punjab won silver medals.
3. Pakistan is planning a diplomatic outreach campaign in the United Kingdom and Europe to bring renewed international focus to the Kashmir issue, with a parliamentary delegation set to engage lawmakers, policymakers, think tanks and media organisations.
4. Pakistan’s anti-cybercrime body has issued summons to Noreen Niazi, sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, accusing her of disseminating “false, offensive and inflammatory” content on social media to defame state institutions and spread “fake narratives”.
The summons came after an interview with Niazi was widely circulated on social media, in which she claimed the India-Pakistan military confrontation in May 2025 was the result of collusion between Pakistan’s military leadership and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and was orchestrated to enhance the image of the armed forces.
5. Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport will increase direct flights to 22 Indian cities in August from the current 17, reflecting strong demand from one of its fastest-growing tourism markets.
6. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu is on a historic three-nation European tour to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania spanning July 19 to 25, 2026. This tour marks the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian President to Moldova, and the first visit to Romania in over three decades.

1. US President Donald Trump yesterday supported adding Iran to a proposed Russia sanctions bill, urging Republicans to include Tehran in the legislation.
2. Russia launched an overnight attack on Kyiv using ballistic missiles and drones, killing one person and injuring 16 others. According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched 41 missiles and 125 drones across Ukraine overnight. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said most of the missiles had targeted the capital.
3. In Peru, five people were killed and more than 20 others injured after an earthquake of 5.5 magnitude struck the Andes region.
4. In Guyana, a ferry carrying 116 passengers and crew capsized near the Pomeroon River. Authorities said 67 people, including 15 children, had been rescued. Guyanese Prime Minister Mark Phillips said the MV Barima was sailing from the capital, Georgetown, along the North Atlantic coast to Port Kaituma.
5. The United States military launched airstrikes on Iran yesterday, targeting the country’s paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in what it described as retaliation for the killing of American troops in Jordan.
6. A Tanzanian-flagged tanker was hijacked by suspected Somali pirates off Yemen’s coast and taken to waters off the coast of Somalia’s northeastern Bari region.
