1. GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has been honored with the ‘Best Airport Staff in India & South Asia 2024’ award by Skytrax. The announcement took place during the Passenger Terminal EXPO 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany, on 17 April.

2. Indian embassy advises rescheduling for inbound Indian passengers at Dubai International Airport due to heavy rains causing flooding. UAE aims to restore normalcy after disruptions.

3. 🇺🇸 USA unhappy with PM Modi’s ‘ghar mein ghus kar’ claim : The United States has offered advice to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to exclude aggressive references to Pakistan from his election rhetoric. Instead, it has suggested that India should find a resolution through dialogue with Pakistan, without without escalating the issue.

The US reaction came after Modi and his Defence Minister Rajnath Singh publicly boasted that India under the current regime is assassinating terrorists “in their homes”, even by crossing borders.

4. Two students from India who were studying at a university in the UK have been killed in a tragic drowning incident at a scenic waterfall in Scotland. Police Scotland are yet to name the men from Andhra Pradesh.

1. Group of Seven foreign ministers have warned of new sanctions against Iran today for its drone and missile attack on Israel, and urged both sides to avoid an escalation of the conflict.

2. Iran fired air defense missiles near the central city of Isfahan after spotting drones. The firing raised fears of a possible Israeli strike in retaliation for Tehran’s unprecedented drone-and-missile assault on the country.

3. Amid a conflict between the Myanmar military and the armed rebel group in Myanmar’s Rakhine, 13 more members of the Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) took shelter in Bangladesh on Thursday night.

4. United States has blocked a United Nations Security Council resolution that would have paved the way for full United Nations membership for Palestine. In the 15-member Security Council, twelve members voted in favor of the resolution while two countries – the UK and Switzerland – abstained.

5. Recently Maldives High Court has overturned former President Abdulla Yameen’s 11-year prison sentence on money laundering and bribery charges and ordered a retrial. The judges cited errors in the trial and highlighted Yameen’s deprivation of trial rights. They emphasized that the prosecution failed to prove the offense pillars outlined in the indictment.

He was accused of abusing his position and taking a 1 million USD bribe to facilitate the sale of Aarah for resort development to Yoosuf Naeem, a former parliamentary representative for Felidhoo constituency, and laundering the money.

6. Three people have died in the United Arab Emirates as a result of heavy flooding caused by record-setting rains this week. Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel, hoped to be back on a normal schedule within 24 hours.
