1. India and Japan discussed the potential for further strengthening cooperation communications, digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The discussions were held during a meeting between India’s Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Mallick, and the Director General for International Affairs of Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Hideo Fuseida, in Tokyo.
2. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in view of the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Iran-Gulf region, has warned of a food crisis in the coming months. He said these conflicts are placing severe pressure on Global South economies.
3. The traditional musical instrument Mandar, deeply rooted in the folk culture and tribal life of Jharkhand, has received official recognition with a Geographical Indication tag.

1. North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Secretary-General Mark Rutte today accused Russia of carrying out a campaign of hostile actions against NATO allies and said that Moscow was failing to stop the 32-member military alliance’s support for Ukraine. While addressing a joint press conference with Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius, Rutte reiterated NATO’s support for Ukraine and said that Russia is failing on the battlefield in Ukraine and in undermining the military alliance’s support for Kyiv.
2. A Chinese team set a Guinness World Record on 29 August 2026 for the most autonomous underwater vehicles operating simultaneously. The record involved 116 autonomous underwater vehicles, or AUVs, named TH-618s, which carried out autonomous underwater formation navigation without human intervention for 34 minutes over 500 metres.
