Tabla maestro Anuradha Pal

Internationally acclaimed as the first female Tabla maestro in the world, Anuradha Pal’s dazzling performances are an awesome combination of a charismatic performer having profound creativity, tremendous clarity, superlative rhythmic improvisations and high- octane spontaneity. Her tonal quality, complimenting balance and pinpoint-precise rhythm, is founded on decades of rigorous study, sadhana and sacrifice.

Ushering in the festive season and expressing a musical connection with the monsoon, globally renowned tabla sensation Anuradha Pal launched an exemplary song and music video called ‘Dancing Rain’.

This video features Bollywood superstar Raveena Tandon portraying the romance of the magical monsoons, along with other well-known artists such as danseuse Shovana Narayan, Saswati Sen, Sandip Soparrkar, Anuradha Pal, Phil Scarf, Keith Peters and other leading artists from the Jazz and Indian classical music world.

Talking about it, actress Raveena Tandon says, “Dancing Rain is a beautiful tribute to our country with subtle nuances in fusion music, using various forms of percussion all expertly played and composed by Anuradha Pal. I wish the team all success for weaving magic with music in this monsoon.”

Anuradha says, “Dancing Rain is a collaboration of various sounds, percussion beats, styles all together bringing out the various forms, essence and elements of monsoon that are intricately connected with the human mind and its expressions. A fusion of sounds, vocal, jazz, sax, bass, sitar, shehnai, sarangi and using modern cajon, djembe, Taphon, Udu, kanjira and Pakhwaj make it richer for the discerning audience.”

Dancing rain is a combination of sonorous vocals, lilting Indian, jazz and orchestral instrumentals, spiced with multi layered, multi-dimensional percussion. Tabla Queen and composer Anuradha has beautifully portrayed the drama and nostalgia of dancing rains, much like the beauty and diversity of Incredible India, its spirituality, culture, dances and music. This song is a fitting tribute to India’s ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ this August month in 2021. The video footage and sound design accentuates the immersive experience of journeying through India, with the rhythms of the ‘Dancing rain’ creating an unparalleled audio-visual experience. It helps us unwind and acknowledge the beauty of nature, as a refreshing take, away from the pandemic.

Anuradha has passionately composed the music, interacting with Indian vocal, Jazz Sax, Bass Guitar, Sitar, Shehnai, Sarangi, layering more than 60 tracks, playing several world percussions instruments like Pakhawaj, Tabla, Djembe, Cajon, Taphon, Udu, Kanjira etc.

Her Dancing Rain song is a new age fusion song available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Gaana, JioSaavn, Deezer, Tidal and all Music stores across the world, where one can also hear Anuradha’s earlier top selling albums like Recharge plus, Tabla solo, Passion, Nirvana, Get Recharged, Kesaria, EDM song and Tabla training DVDs.
