Bhajan maestro Anup Jalota last acting venture was Paatal Lok. Now, he is set to play the protagonist in a biopic on Satya Sai Baba. A source from the production house says, “Anup ji bears an uncanny, striking resemblance to Satya Sai Baba. He also happens to be his ardent follower and has been closely associated with him for many years. Anup ji is well-versed with Baba’s mannerisms and nuances. As makers, it helps us greatly, because we can be realistic. He’s thrilled to be a part of the film and is taking a keen interest in every aspect.”
Though he has been part of various acting projects in the past, this is the first time that the Padma Shri awardee will be part of a biopic.”I am glad that I got an opportunity to play Satya Sai Baba, because I have believed in his ideals and principles. I have also observed him closely and read a lot about him. It required great research and playing this character was challenging,” says Jalota.
Directed by Vicky Ranawat, the film also features Sadhika Randhawa, Jackie Shroff, Govind Namdev, Arun Bakshi and Mushtaq Khan. The film is set to release on January 22, 2021.
