With claps of appreciation and at the end a standing ovation, that’s how Raga Rang by Parthiv Gohil concluded. NCPA in association with the Sahachari Foundation Events presented the evening which was conceptualised in memory of Mrs Krishna Khatau and was supported by Kotak.
The concept of Raga Rang is that it focuses on old Hindi film songs which had a strong base in ragas. Parthiv Gohil and his team. Parthiv elaborates, “I think the most special thing about the golden era of Bollywood and the reason it is called the golden era of Bollywood was the essence of a live recording of the songs with singers and musicians all together creating magic. And the fact that most of these compositions were based on ragas and had the importance of poetry and also there was a romance created by the songs which are not with us today.”
Parthiv and his group presented a special selection of geets and ghazals written by iconic lyricists and composed by legendary film music composers of the yester years, featuring Jahnvi Shrimankar.
Raga Rang concluded on the 25th of February, 2023 at the Tata Theatre, NCPA.
