Feel Your Feelings

feel your feelings

Often when we are experiencing unpleasant emotions, we turn it off. We seek distractions. We deny their existence altogether. However when we do any of these and resist our emotions тАУ they not only remain, they also get worse.

тАЬDisowning your pain doesnтАЩt make you happy. Drying yourself can prevent a cold. Denying cold will let it freeze you beyond your sufferings. People might not be able to handle it or stay close to it. You canтАЩt be close to people by hiding your pain because that way you get away from yourself and away from yourself; you canтАЩt be with someone else.

The right people will help you, shoulder the weight and if they canтАЩt, they will walk with you as you do. Those who canтАЩt arenтАЩt worth your attempt to drown the ocean. Think to yourself, do people dislike lagoons and oceans because of the salt water? Be so much that anything about you cannot be held as you. You are a collection of pieces, not a piece. There would be those whoтАЩd want the salt (how, from the water, salt can be removed if someone knows how to), those with open wounds will keep away for their own sake, timid ones will admire from afar. Surfers will take up the challenge. Then there will be those who see beach day as a perfect day, even if they stay far away. Do you think the ocean cares about any of this?тАЭ

Excerpt from poetry book, Pure Soul

Dealing with emotions is hard, we are never taught how to. As adults one good thing that we can do for yourself is тАУ feel your emotions, accept them. This can be made easier by sharing the emotions with someone.
