The name Varanasi comes from two rivers: Varuna + Asi
Varuna – a river flowing on one side of the city
Asi – a smaller river on the other side

In the Ramayana, he guided young Rama and Lakshmana
He taught them divine weapons (astra-vidya)
Composer of the famous Gayatri Mantra
Created a parallel heaven called Trishanku Swarga
