After making the audience groove to the fun and peppy song Phoonk Phoonk recently in Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey-starrer Ginny Weds Sunny, music director Gaurav Chatterji is going retro with his new composition for the film, Aafat-e-Ishq, directed by Indrajit Nattoji and starring Neha Sharma, Namit Das , Deepak Dobriyal and Ila Arun.
Gaurav has teamed up with singer Nakash Aziz, who is best known for his tracks Dhating Naach, Jabra Fan and Gandi Baat. “The kind of masti and madness I was looking for in the song could only be delivered by Nakash. The song also requires a lot of acting while singing and Nakash is brilliant at that. He has terrific energy and range and was the perfect fit for the song,” he says.
The retro number has the yesteryear vibe, which is sure to take the listeners back to the Kishore Kumar era. The composer apparently drew inspiration from the late legend’s quirkiness for the song.“The great Kishore Kumar had unpredictableness and strange masti in his singing. To compose the track, we sought his inspiration,” says Gaurav, who made his Bollywood debut with the film Jai Mummy Di.
Gaurav is content with the way the retro track has turned out, which also has a disco-funk feel. “We have used nice slick guitars and fat bass lines to infuse fresh energy into the song,” he says.
