1. UNESCO Recognizes Feminist Utopian Novel Sultana’s Dream as part of “Memory of the World”. “Sultana’s Dream” by Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain was recently added to UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” list. This honor was given at the 10th General Meeting of the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific, which took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, a feminist author from British India, wrote “Sultana’s Dream” in 1905.

2. The External Affairs Ministry has issued an Advisory for Indian nationals travelling to Cambodia and the South East Asian region for jobs asking them to be wary of fake agents.

3. The 44th ‘Home Coming’ day of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is being celebrated by the ruling Awami League on Friday. Sheikh Hasina returned to Bangladesh 17 May 1981 after a long exile in India following the brutal killing of her father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members on 15th August 1975. Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana survived as they were out of the country on the day the ghastly incident took place.

4. The United Arab Emirates, home to a large Indian population of over 3.8 million, has announced a new visa program offering long-term residency to individuals, who significantly contribute to environmental protection and sustainability efforts. The 10-year Blue Residency Visa aims to attract and retain global leaders in environmental research, activism, and technological solutions.

5. Regarding the protests in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday. that the protest is the result of the policies that have deprived people of the region of their resources.

6. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, on Friday, emphasised that the tolerance for any kind of cross-border terrorism activity in India is very low, reiterating that if something like this happens, there will be consequences.Speaking at the CII Annual Business Summit 2024.

1. The new Dutch government, which is run by Geert Wilders’ nationalist Party for Freedom (PVV), wants to break the rules set by the European Union for immigration.

The European Union (EU) has set up shared rules for migration. For example,
(a) The Schengen Agreement lets people travel between member states without a passport, and the Dublin Regulation says that an EU member’s first entry determines which member is responsible for processing asylum applications.

(b) The Blue Card plan makes it easier for highly skilled non-EU workers to come to the UK and stay. Seasonal workers from outside the EU are protected by the Seasonal Workers Directive.

2. The first Summit on Clean Cooking, which took place in Paris on May 14, 2024, was a turning point in the fight against the serious health and environmental problems in Africa that are caused by traditional cooking methods.

People from outside the EU who have lived in the EU for more than five years are given rights by the Long-term Residents Directive.

3. In a gala event organised in Kathmandu, Anmol Rai, a transwoman, was chosen as Miss Pink Nepal 2024, followed by the first runner-up, Sarosy Neupane, and the second runner-up, Aarohi Basnet. 9. Three foreign tourists and one Afghan citizen were killed by gunmen in Afghanistan’s central Bamyan province on Friday.

10. North Korea has fired a ballistic missile towards the sea off its east coast, South Korea’s military said on Friday.
