1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the heat wave intensity prevailing in eastern India slightly decreased on Saturday. The IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall spell accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds very likely over Northeast India in the next 24 hours.
2. Telangana might get a relief from the scorching temperatures as IMD predicted Light to Moderate rains in parts of the State from 6 May.

8. In Andhrapradesh former chief minister and Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has promised to revoke tax on garbage and appoint a member of Brahmin community as member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board. He said that ₹15,000 per month will be given to priests where temples earn ₹50,000 income.
9. Pyla Prasad, a significant leader of the Telugu Desam (TD) in the Anakapalli district, Andhra pradesh, has joined the YSRC in the presence of deputy chief minister Budi Mutyala Naidu in Taruva village under the Madugula mandal on Saturday.
10. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has granted approval to the Uttar Pradesh Government’s proposal to rename eight railway stations in Amethi district.

1. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested four police officials on May 4 in connection with the alleged custodial death of Thamir Jiffri at Tanur in Malappuram district of Kerala on 1 August 2023.
2. Former Karnataka Minister and Holenarsipura MLA H. D. Revanna was arrested from his father and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s residence in Padmanabha Nagar on 4 May. The arrest came minutes after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Special Court for Elected Representatives, Bengaluru.
3. The Kolkata Police inquiry team constituted to investigate a woman employee’s allegation of sexual molestation by Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, will speak to the witnesses over the next few days, a senior officer said.
4. A special CBI court in Panchkula Saturday awarded death sentence to four convicts in connection with the 2016 murder a farmer and his wife, and the gangrape of their two nieces at Dingerheri village in Nuh district’s Tauru (Haryana).
Named ‘Victim A’ and ‘Victim S’ in court files, two girls were paraded naked and gang-raped in a Nuh village about eight years ago (2016) in the presence of their family members and relatives, who too were attacked and two of them died of injuries.
5. The Delhi High Court recently dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) petition seeking directions to the Delhi government’s education department to stop a private school from charging fee for providing air condition (AC) facility in classrooms to students.
6. Vemula Radhika, the mother of UoH suicide victim Rohith Vemula, on Saturday met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and submitted a memorandum seeking a re-investigation of the case to find the facts behind the death of her son. Radhika said that her son was murdered by unidentified persons and the state government had promised to do justice.

1. Television star Ragini Khanna, who is also actor Govinda’s niece, fell prey to fake news. The Sasural Genda Phool star made headlines after a social media user claimed she has converted to Christianity. To make things worse, Ragini also ended up sharing it on her Instagram account which resulted in chaos.
Ragini has now clarified that the post was fake and that she has not converted into any other religion. She also added that she accidentally promoted the post, not knowing that the user was peddling fake news.
2. Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader KT Rama Rao on May 3 said he will take care of the family of Padma Shri awardee Darshanam Mogulaiah (flok song Singer) after it was reported that he was working as a daily wager at a construction site in Turkayamjal near Hyderabad.
Mogulaiah was awarded the Padma Shri in 2022 and became popular after he sang in actor Pawan Kalyan’s film Bheemla Nayak.

1. The Indian Navy has initiated a modernisation programme to enhance the life, maintenance support, and capability of its warships by converting their propulsion systems from steam to diesel.
The Ministry of Defence had signed a contract worth Rs. 313.42 crore with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on 16 October 2023 to commence the mid-life upgrade and re-powering of INS Beas, the first of the Brahmaputra-class frigates to undergo this transformation. The conversion of INS Beas began in early April 2024 and is expected to take approximately two years to complete.
2. An Indian Air Force (IAF) soldier was killed while four others were injured after their convoy was fired upon by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday, The attack occurred at Sanai village in Surankote.
3. Airbus Defence has delivered the second C295 to the Indian Air Force (IAF). The first C295 aircraft was delivered to the IAF in September 2023. India formalised the acquisition of 56 Airbus C295 aircraft to replace the IAF’s legacy AVRO fleet in September 2021.
Under the contractual agreement, Airbus will deliver the first 16 aircraft in ‘fly-away’ condition from its final assembly line in Seville, Spain. The remaining 40 are going to be produced by Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) in the C295 Final Assembly Line in Vadodara, Gujarat.
4. The Army is working on creating a new unit that can simulate the role of an adversary during military exercises and wargame training. Report by The Indian Express.
Plans for the new unit — OPFOR, or “opposing forces” — are currently under discussion and will be implemented after final approval from the Army hierarchy. While all wargames and plans are restricted to officers and other select ranks at present, the implementation of OPFOR will help all participating troops get first-hand experience during on-ground exercises.
5. Indian Army Dental Corps Recruitment 2024, 30 Vacancies, Eligibility, Apply Online : Notification for recruitment of Dental Surgeons at Army Dental Corps is released officially by the Indian Army. Candidates who meet certain eligibility may apply by visiting the official website between 06 May and 05 June 2024.
6. The Indian Army has announced the Army TES 52 Notification for 2024. This is for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES) 52nd Course starting from January 2025. Interested candidates can apply online through the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in from May 13 to June 13, 2024.
Applicants must be between 16.5 to 19.5 years old and have passed 12th grade with 60% marks in PCM and appeared for JEE (Mains) 2024.
