After a whirlwind run across the United States, trailblazing Indian-
American stand-up comedian and screenwriter Zarna Garg will be bringing her highly
acclaimed comedy show ‘Practical People Win’ to India for the very first time.
Produced and presented by Fukra Entertainment, the multi-city India trek will kick off with
two electrifying performances in Mumbai, where Garg will grace the stage at Y.B. Chavan
Auditorium on April 20th followed by Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir on April 21st. The tour will
then make a much-anticipated stop in New Delhi on April 25th at the Kedarnath Sahni.
Her work, which draws heavily on her real-life experience as an Indian immigrant mom in
America, will form the ethos of her India tour as she will enthral audiences sporting her
signature kurta and bindi look, dishing out rib tickling family-friendly comedy while diving into
an authentic Indian world full of ironies, merciless maternal advice, and fresh observations
on American life.
Zarna Garg shares, “I’m absolutely elated to be bringing my comedy back to India, the country of my heritage. This tour is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to connect with audiences in India and share my take on the Indian-American experience. As an Indian-American woman, I’ve always felt like I’ve had one foot in each world – navigating the cultural traditions and expectations of my heritage, while also embracing the more individualistic American way of life. It’s a delicate balance that has shaped my identity and worldview in profound ways.”
Garg, who has been living in the U.S. for over three decades, arrived on the comedy scene
with her unique signature style in 2019, after her informal home videos became wildly
popular on YouTube and TikTok. The winner of Kevin Hart’s Lyft Comics and the 2021
Ladies of Laughter Award, Garg has performed at iconic venues such as Kennedy Center,
Comedy Cellar, Carolines and has been featured on prestigious platforms such as Apple
TV’s Gutsy series hosted by Hillary Clinton, Tamron Hall, TODAY, the Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show and This American Life by Ira Glass. Last year, Variety Magazine listed her among the ‘10 Comics To Watch Out For’.
Garg’s debut screenplay ‘Rearranged’ won Best Comedy Feature at Austin Film Festival in
2019, and was a semi-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowships for Screenwriting the
same year. She released her first comedy special, ‘One In A Billion’ as an Amazon Original
in 2023 which features her many jokes on being an Indian-Immigrant mother living in
America. She is also known for her podcast called ‘The Zarna Garg Family Podcast’
featuring her husband and three kids, which dissects modern family dynamics.
Currently supporting comedy legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on their Restless Leg Tour,
She made her debut in the acting world with ‘A Nice Indian Boy.’
With her comedy being lauded by New York Times, Oprah Daily and CBC, and appearances
at the Just For Laughs; Comedy Tour and Netflix Is A Joke Festival, Garg has firmly
established herself as a staple in the global comedy world. Boasting a devoted social media
following of 2M+, she passionately advocates for change and representation in comedy and
is bravely vocal about criminalising evil mother-in-law behaviours.
