1. A Lashkar-e-Tayiba terror module was busted on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district with the arrest of four militant associates, the police said.
2. The West Bengal police on Sunday detained local Trinamool Congress leader Ajit Maiti at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas on charges of land grabbing from villagers.
3. Six members of an independent fact-finding committee led by former Chief Justice of Patna High Court L Narasimha Reddy were stopped by police as they were proceeding to trouble-torn Sandeshkhali area in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district to probe alleged incidents of atrocities on women.
Citing Section 144 CrPC was in force in parts of Sandeshkhali and it would not be prudent to allow them access to the area even in groups of four-five.
4. Unidentified assailants shot dead the Indian National Lok Dal’s Haryana unit president Nafe Singh Rathee in Jhajjar district on Sunday. Rathee, a former MLA, was travelling in an SUV when the assailants, who were in a car, attacked him in Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh town.

Hanif Sheikh was declared a proclaimed offender in 2002 and has been absconding for the last 22 years. He was nabbed on February 22 from Bhusawal in Jalgaon district in Maharashtra where he was a teacher in an Urdu school under a different identity.
