2. On the release of 8 Indian ex-Navy veterans from Qatar, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra says, we are grateful for their return. We deeply appreciate the decision of Qatar’s govt and the Amir to release them. We are happy to have 7 of those Indian nationals back. 8th Indian national has also been released and we continue to work with the Qatar govt to see how quickly his return to India would be possible.

3. India-ASEAN held discussions on taking forward their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership..Secretary General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn met External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in New Delhi.

4. At the World Government Summit, World Health Organization Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus underscored the urgent need for international cooperation in addressing health emergencies, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

1. Donald Trump launches immunity bid in US Supreme Court against Jan 6 trial : Former US President Donald Trump on Feb 12 (Monday) asked the US Supreme Court to pause a ruling by a lower court which said that he does not have presidential immunity from criminal prosecution against his bid to overturn the 2020 US presidential election results.

2. Former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb secured victory in Finland’s presidential runoff against ex-Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto. This win places Stubb in charge of navigating Finland’s foreign and security policies, particularly significant given Finland’s recent NATO membership following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

3. One person was killed and five others were wounded after a shooter opened fire at a New York City subway station at about 4:38 PM (local time or 9:38 AM, GMT).

United States Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin has cancelled his trip to Brussels where he was supposed to participate in meetings with his counterparts from other NATO nations, This comes after Austin was admitted to a critical care unit at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center due to an “emergent bladder issue” and transferred his duties to his deputy.

Parties of Nawad Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto in talks to form next government in Pakistan : The top leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party have discussed a new power-sharing formula for dividing the five-year tenure between them, as efforts to form a coalition government gathered pace on Monday following a split verdict in the elections.
