1. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) asked Indian citizens in the Rakhine state of Myanmar to leave the region immediately. The MEA in its advisory cited deteriorating security situation in the troubled region. It also requested Indians to refrain from travelling to the region.
2. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, arrived in New Delhi on his first official visit to India : Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud, met with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and the two leaders held discussions on exploring avenues for enhanced regional cooperation to ensure security and foster greater stability not only within the region but also beyond.
3. India’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Arindam Bagchi, met the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, on Tuesday and discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.
4. The first joint working group meeting on agriculture took place between Iran and India on Tuesday.During the meeting, the officials of the ministries of agriculture of both countries emphasised increasing cooperation in the field.
5. Iran eliminates visa requirements for Indian tourists from 4 February 2024, aiming to boost tourism and global engagement. Indian ordinary passport holders can visit every six months for up to 15 days. The move extends to 33 countries, acknowledging India’s growing outbound tourism market.
6. Sri Lanka aims to finalize Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and China by 2024 to spur economic growth.

1. Israel-Hamas war: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects Hamas’ ceasefire deal, vows to fight until ‘total victory’.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is currently in Israel amid his 5th visit to the Middle East since the beginning of the war, called on Israel to prioritise civilians in Gaza.
2. At least 30 people were killed and more than 40 others injured on Wednesday in twin blasts targeting election offices in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, a day before the general elections.
3. US drone strike in Iraqi capital kills leader of Iran-linked militia Kataib Hezbollah commander: The strike in Iraq comes days after the US military launched air strikes on dozens of sites in Iraq and Syria which they said are being used by Iran-backed militias and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
4. A military helicopter with five troops on board that had been missing in the rugged mountains outside of San Diego has been found. It was located near Pine Valley. The troops were flying back to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar when their aircraft was reported overdue.
5. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday warned the Maldives of being at a high risk of ‘debt distress’ amid increasing proximity with China. The strategically important nation is currently governed by a pro-China government.
Since the rise of Mohamed Muizzu as Maldives President in November last year, Beijing has pledged more funding for the island nation.
6. El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele triumphantly secures his reelection, despite lingering concerns over authoritarian tendencies. Bukele’s landslide victory underscores his firm stance against gang violence and his vision for democratic reforms.
7. Recently Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, in a significant move, appointed Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as the country’s new Prime Minister.
8. The fifth session of the ninth Parliament of Sri Lanka was inaugurated by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
9. Pakistan to hold its Parliamentary elections for 16th National Assembly . Local media reported that the elections will be held on 265 seats of National Assembly and five hundred and ninety seats of four provincial assemblies.
