1. Taiwan’s envoy to the United Kingdom Yao Chin-hsiang has urged the United Kingdom and other Western allies to help deter Chinese aggression against Taiwan, Yao Chin-hsiang made the remarks during a Council on Geostrategy public panel event on January 30.

2. Taiwan’s legislature elected Han Kuo-yu, a politician from the Pro-China, China-friendly opposition Kuomintang (KMT) as its new speaker on Thursday.

This comes as US launched retaliatory air strikes against Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Tehran-affiliated groups in Iraq and Syria after a fatal attack in Jordan claimed the lives of three US troops and wounded nearly 40 others.

Republic of Sierra Leone, is a country on the southwest coast of West Africa. Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a traditional harmful practice that involves the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injury to female genital organs for non-medical reasons.

What is the purpose of FGM?
Psychosexual reasons: FGM is carried out as a way to control women’s sexuality, which is sometimes said to be insatiable if parts of the genitalia, especially the clitoris, are not removed. It is thought to ensure virginity before marriage.
