1. Schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 5 days till January 12 due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, for students from Nursery to Class 5,” Delhi Education Minister Atishi said.

2. The Punjab government on Sunday ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 10 class till January 14 in the wake of severe cold weather conditions prevailing in the region.

7. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday inaugurated the week-long International Kite Festival, which draws participants from 55 countries and various states of India.

8. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is expected to enter Jharkhand between February 2 and 5, a senior party leader said on Sunday. The yatra is likely to be held in two phases in Jharkhand, during which it will cover 804 km in 13 districts in a total of eight days, he said. The 6,713-km yatra from Manipur to Mumbai is set to start on January 14.

9. The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced Dorjee Tshering Lepcha as the party’s candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Sikkim for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election. The Election Commission has announced that elections to three Rajya Sabha seats from New Delhi and one from Sikkim are likely to be held on January 19.

10. Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has said his government would continue providing assistance to refugees from Myanmar and internally displaced people from Manipur, with support from the Centre.

11. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, will chair the ‘National PACS Mega Conclave’ on ‘Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra’ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

1. Five Maoists were arrested in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, the police said on Sunday. The ‘commander’, identified as Adesh Kumar Ganjhu alias ‘Prabhakar Ji’, was wanted in several cases of arson and extortion in the Tandwa coalfield area.

2. An Anti-Terrorism Squad Mumbai unit raided a guest house in the Borivali area of Mumbai and arrested 6 people and recovered 3 guns and 36 live cartridges from them.

3. The Kerala police arraigned the former principal and two teachers of the school of engineering at CUSAT in connection with the stampede that happened during an annual tech festival in November last year. Four people were killed and 60 were injured in the stampede that occurred before renowned singer Nikita Gandhi was to perform at a musical festival in the open-air auditorium of CUSAT.

4. The police have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly staying illegally in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

5. The Enforcement Directorate has issued notice to Kerala’s former finance minister Thomas Issac, directing him to appear before them on January 12 in Kochi. The notice has been issued in connection with the masala bond case of Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board.

1. The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday announced a significant milestone as an IAF C-130 J aircraft executed a night landing at the Kargil airstrip.The mission, characterised by a terrain masking enroute, demonstrated the IAF’s capabilities in challenging environments.
