1. A two-day meeting of foreign ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will begin in Goa. Foreign ministers of 8 nations, including Pakistan and China, are expected to fly down to Goa for the key meeting.

2. India temporarily relocates embassy from Khartoum to Port Sudan
Port Sudan is port city on Red Sea in eastern Sudan and is located at distance of around 850 km from Khartoum.

3. US commission seeks sanctions on Indian agencies over ‘violation’ of religious freedom;
The US Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) also recommended to Congress to raise the issue of religious freedom during US-India bilateral meetings and hold hearings on it. Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi rejected “such misrepresentation” of facts. MEA trashes report.

4. Meta in its latest adversarial threat report said it took action against about 120 accounts on Facebook and Instagram that were linked to a hacking group in Pakistan. These accounts targeted people in India.

5. NTPC marked its first overseas power plant capacity addition in Bangladesh named Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP). The project will have two units of 660 MW each. The project was executed in collaboration with the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company, a foreign joint venture company of NTPC.

1. Ajay Banga was on Wednesday appointed as the next President of the World Bank, becoming the first-ever Indian-American to head the global financial institution.

2. Russia accused Ukraine on Wednesday of attacking the Kremlin with drones overnight in a failed bid to kill President Vladimir Putin.
There was no immediate comment from Ukrainian authorities on the statement from Moscow.

3. A teenage boy opened fire at a school in Serbia’s capital Belgrade on Wednesday, killing eight children and a school guard, police said. Six more children and a teacher were injured and hospitalised.

4. Nepal police searching for 5 missing people after avalanche. Four women and one man missing since Tuesday.

5. Pakistan’s coalition Government and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party made “big progress” after they agreed to hold general elections in the entire country on the same day but still differed on the date of the polls.

(6) The US Federal Reserve System on Wednesday raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 bps to a 16-year high. The 10th consecutive rate rise lifts the Fed’s benchmark overnight interest rate to the 5.00%-5.25% range. This comes after the US inflation slowed in March.
